Acceptance inspection new 2020 AI-19

Hi All, Totally new to AF and RV. We are scheduled to receive a new 2020 Interstate Nineteen in May. We've started a new vehicle inspection acceptance checklist. Since we are new to this and see the vehicle has a number of complicated systems we're hoping to get suggestions for what to check and what should be demonstrated, plus any other thoughts on what our list should include. Any comment or thought will be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

You might ask for at least one overnight if your dealer has an area with hookups. Many dealers do this with a promise of an immediate fix the next day for any discrepancies. My dealer here in my area encourages this.

Dave....have an experienced sales guy /tech or both go thru EVERTYTHING on the AS PDI checklist !!!! This means furnace,hot water heater, gen start, multiple C-Zone ops, 110 vac differences (CSZ & DS), tank hose/macerator ops, table set-up (very easy), MBUX modes/switches/buttons, swipe controls, tank heaters, low point drains, LP ops.
The new AS owners manual is OK....BUT has many goofs that are carry overs from the EXT models. The MB owners manual is EXHAUSTIVE, because it covers every possible VS-30 van they make.
Practice using as much stuff as possible.....well designed rig.....love mine !!

Yes, The last 2020 IS 19 manual appears to be REV 02 available at least 6 months ago. During this down time might be a good time for someone working from home to update and correct the errors. Hint AS.

Took delivery of a 2020 19' 4x4 last week.
No power to the house batteries while driving.
Fuse was blown. Under the PASSENGER feet carpet, under the panel, under the tool tray are the chassis fuses. (Still some under the drivers seat as well).
Have the dealer show you those fuses! Ask for a fuse diagram! HAHA there isn't one.

One system on the 19' that is unique to all the other interstates is the Truma Combi+ system. It is your source for heat as well as hot water. It runs on either propane or electric. The system is quite simple to operate once you understand it. But the control is frustrating if you don't understand the logic behind it. Once you do, though you will find it a very efficient, quite and frugal system. For boondocking it is hands down the most energy efficient. Once you set your thermostat setting for the heat, you have a choice of GAS, or ELEC 1, ELEC2, MIX1 or MIX2. So obviously, if you are boondocking, you choose gas. But if you are hooked up to an electrical outlet, (shorepower), you want to use electricity to save on the propane. ELEC1 is if you are plugged into a 15 amp circuit, like a home outlet. If you are in a campground, use ELEC2, which is the 30 amp plug. Obviously the difference between 1 and 2 is the amount of elec being input. If you use ELEC2 on a home outlet, you could blow a circuit breaker, because you used pull much amperage for the circuit. Follow so far?

So, Boondocking GAS
Elec on 15 amp circuit ELEC1
Elec on 30 amp circuit ELEC2

Moving on the to MIX settings.

Simple same as above except if no elec is present, then it will switch over the GAS.
Mix just prioritizes the system to use elec before using propane, and MIX1 or MIX2 depends on the which circuit you are plugged into.

The hot water has three setting, ECO, HOT, BOOST.
Self explanatory, except BOOST will give you really hot water, but will time out and revert to HOT, if you did not use it.

If either the Flame (Heat icon) or the Hot Water icon are flashing, it is heating up.

Anyway, this should get you at least started on the Truma system.
Really a great system. It just sips propane, can run all night and not even hear it. Has 4 outlets, front to back in the van. Great system.
