A/C Replacement

Just installed the RecPro Houghton quiet air conditioner and a Max air vent, all can say is Wow what a difference. We can now carry a conversation without yelling at each other, even on the highest setting its quieter than the old Dometic and install was pretty easy.

Thanks for posting this info. Do you have a remote control for it exclusively or where they able to tie it into the existing Airstream provided thermostat?

I ask because we installed the MicroAir Easy Touch Thermostat which was a drop in replacement to the Airstream one and we love it as we're able to control the temperature remotely via WI-FI. We lost our dog back in February but are looking to get another one and this is a very important feature for us.

Sorry! But it comes with a remote control and I was unable to use any of the airstream components. I also had to remove and replace the original thermostat as it wired with a Cat5 wire into the old A/C, the new thermostat is a heat only and I had to snake two wires to the heater.

To those that have replaced the a/c with the Houghton, did you use the “custom machined roof adapter” between the unit and van roof?

Mine was installed by Advanced RV and I think I recall an adaptor was used and required for proper fit.

Mine was done by a local Houston shop. If you need, I can dig up the work order with the parts.

Thank you for the offer but no need to dig out the invoice. All professional shops seem to use an adapter. I know there have been multiple people diy’ing the replacement but very limited posting on details of going diy.
