I like the 2020 pricing. Much less than what was projected. I like all the new features with the 2020 Sprinter chassis. The rear seating has changed and there looks to be an additional seatbelt in the middle couch area.

There are 4 new interior color palettes. I am having so much trouble understanding who at Airstream decided these palettes would be attractive. I have a 2020 on order in Columbian Walnut/Oyster. Only have a few days to pick an alternative. I am an earth tone/beige person so you would think the refined brown would work. But really don’t want the dark brown/brandy seats with white (fabric?) walls, white corian, “stallion black” flooring, and gray shades along with what looks to be an only okay “drift” color cabinet.

Hopefully, the Tommy Bahama interior colors will be okay.

Was surprised to see the Tommy Bahama listed. My dealer was saying it wasn’t going to be there in 2020 on the interstates, just trailers. I am partial to the TB version.

They are offering the Tommy Bahama interior... that would be my choice.

Going this weekend to the local dealer to look at a 19 and see how we like the reduced space and layout...

I like all the new features. Would be nice to have one that is easier to drive around and comfortably fit in normal parking spots. And with the kids not traveling with us, not an issue to loose the additional seating.

We are also going back to rethink the 19' TB trailer as well... just to make sure if I made a mistake or not on not trying a trailer first vs the AI... I should have never looked at one after buying the AI, but we did... and now we want to see if that would be a better fit. I don't think so, but Mara wants to go take a look again at them, that tells me something, lol...

And back to the AI, I posted this in the other thread, that is raised LP port setup that I see. If that is indeed what it is, that is great! Hope that it is incorporated in all AI going forward...

I have told Airstream of Chicago that I will go with the Tommy Bahama. I have been in a larger Interstate in TB and liked it - just not as much as Columbian Walnut/Oyster or any of the other colorways for 2019 and before.

I realize gray is in but would have expected Airstream to offer gray as one option. Not go all in. As I have continued to look at the new Interstate colors, I do think the Modern Greige may look good. Depends on the moonshine ultraleather coloring. But without seeing it in person or even a picture of an Interstate in Modern Greige, I just can not imagine ordering sight unseen.

Yes, the 19 footers are few and far between. I was able to see one in Seattle when visiting my sister for Thanksgiving. I spent a lot of time in it and then went to look at an Interstate Lounge. Once past the seating it felt the same size. However, the storage space in the 19 is anemic and there are only 2 batteries.

It’s good to know you have a Tommy Bahama and would order a TB again. I just watched Patrick (Colonial Airstream) on YouTube walk through the TB Atlas. It definitely helped me feel better about my decision. The Airstream pictures make the interior seem very yellowish to me. The YouTube video looked much better.

I was told the TB Nineteens are being built for a June delivery. The remaining interior colors are estimated to start being available at dealerships in July or, probably, August.

Pictures of the Refined Brown for the 2020 AI. Remember, floor is called Stallion black, gray shades, and white corian.

I think the color scheme is a step in the right direction away from the previous harsher end-members. Airstream appears to be taking their cue from Safari Condo in some respects. They could do worse.

However, Airstream's marketing exec needs to fire their outside graphic designer. They've got some ba-ad photoshopping going on in that content.

2020 Interstate 19

We have the 2017 AI lounge TB edition and would certainly go with that again in the 19 if we go that route. Just having a hard time coming to terms with the cost / loss on making a change this year. Really love the 19 though. One more kid about to be off to college and our second row seats are largely open when driving. Daughter hangs out in the back and wife goes between.

We are in the same exact situation... and no matter how many times I tell the wife that if we go with the 19 I will not spend $$ to modify it, she just looks at me and rolls her eyes...

We might just keep what we have and continue to enjoy it and not think about changing it until we retire... then get something that would fit us better at that time.

Work in progress

Configuration of control panel and switches different in the two pictures attached. The one with the Airstream plaque is a similar arrangement as my previous AI 19. The plaque was used to cover the holes after retrofitting and relocating the temperature sensors away from the heat producing Czone panel. Pictures available make me miss the beautiful light camel wood, oyster seating, and especially the ‘nautical’ flooring from my previous AI 19!

New Nineteen 4x4

Just placed my order for the new Nineteen: Black 4x4 w/Tommy Bahama. Only small 2nd thoughts are the 4x4 option. I am a fair weather, southwest, traveler so rarely in poor weather conditions more then poor state park and county roads. Other then cost I'm wondering about driving/handling with increased height. Anybody have any experience/thoughts?

If I read the specs correctly (different from the previous years) for the new Sprinter chassis, there is no difference in height from the 2WD vs the 4x4.

I'm looking to order a 2020 AI 19 4X4 and love the formal black but like you, without seeing the actual color or material, it's hard to commit to a color scheme. I just got off the phone with Airstream and they said they haven't started building any 2020 yet and will be a couple more months. They also don't have any color samples to send out to potential buyers or dealers.

I shared the new interior color scheme with friends who like gray interiors - very “in” right now. They all think the formal black is beautiful. And the Modern Greige could also be good choice (for me) but can’t tell the coloring of the ultraleather from the small photo.

Very disappointing to hear that Airstream hasn’t started on the 2020s. Not sure what they are waiting for.

Yes, the delay in production is disappointing to hear. While many cab chassis RVs are now using the updated Sprinter platform, many of those are still imported from Germany. I'll bet there is still a backlog on the 2500 chassis out of the plant in Charleston. But the delay at least it gives me a few more months to persuade my wife to keep our trailer and upgrade our TV. We have a 2016 Chevy High Country which is quite capable, but she doesn't like towing. She has also grown quite accustomed to driving her E350 Wagon that has all of the similar driver assistance packages, and that's a strong argument for waiting for a 2020 Sprinter based B or B+. My compromise might be to sell her on upgrading the TV to a 2020 GLS 450, which has even more sophisticated driver assistance features (including some specific to trailering), and has an inline 6 cylinder gas motor coupled to an electric (the EQ system). It's not due out until later this year...

Add me to the list of names of the "hopefully" not to long wait list for a 2020 AI 19 (exterior: bright silver, interior formal black, drivetrain: 4X4). I put in a order on 5/2/19 so the wait begins. I was told early fall timeframe, which sucks but I knew that going into the ordering process so all is good but sooner the better

What I hope doesn't happen is Airstream doesn't let quality control go by the wayside trying to fulfill their orders in the most inefficient manner possible.

Looking forward to contributing to the 2010 AI 19 discussion in the future.

Safe travels everyone.

Has she considered taking a course at a commercial driving school, specifically designed for situations like this? Many formerly "shy" drivers swear by the skills and confidence learned IMO -- an investment for life!

Good luck,

Peter

Uh, No. Her biggest complaint is the sensation that the trailer is pushing the TV. That's just the way trailering is as far as I am concerned.

Back on topic here, it appears the Arbogast has a TB 19 in stock. What concerns me is the difference in the small size of the media screen in their photos compared to the PDF brochure and other 2020 cab chassis models with the full blown MBUX interface. Makes me wonder if AS cut corners here, and whether the 19 will indeed get all the safety upgrades. It does show LED headlights. Need to see more 2020's to find out? A search of the VIN produced no result.
