Kill switches
JHayes..... I agree..... I thought to kill the house batt the rocker sw near side entrance was the best/correct way...... my EXT had a small red rocker that did the same thing......BUT now I see each Czone has a “batt off” selection.....I’m assuming all 3 do the same thing........ inquiring minds wanna know ‼️😆

I only use the czone to switch off the house battery and then use the physical battery switch on the left side of the sink to turn the house battery on, works every single time, have not try to push and hold the switch, the physical battery off switch is underneath the lounge chair driver side quite intimidating to use I don’t touch it.

I decided to make a quick video like drpeggau did on his rig. This is a unedited spare of the moment video. https://youtu.be/M9t7uzcI0iE

I live in Missouri and there isn't a shortage of freezing weather and snow for sure. The main reason I got a 4wd is due to not wanting to be limited in areas like off-road (ie; White Rim Trails), beach driving or camping or weather driving.
I'm hoping to meet other AI Interstate motorhome or MB campervan owners in a rally or get together. I live in Kansas City and I NEVER see AI motorhomes. I think the primary reason maybe because the closest dealer to me is roughly 3 hours away in Springfield MO.

JHays - I just watched your excellent video. Your Nineteen looks awesome. Great to see it has the larger screen. You have waited a long time for this vehicle and I am so happy for you.

To be honest, I had my doubt. The doubt increased when I noticed the increase in the prices of the 2020 AI 19s compared to the original MSRP in the VIP brochure. It all worked out in the end and it's now time to make memories.

Nice vid
Hey J Hayes.... nice vid...... I’d like to emphasize the NEW table mount; on the 19’s and EXT’s.....
It has a great slot mount, and then a dual pivoting mount system.... BIG improvement...... I haven’t travelled with mine in position.... but have no doubt it is much more secure than the twisting, round screw-in type on my former EXT ‼️

Anyone try to find a 2020 to look at and give up? Any interest in the 2021?

I removed the hinge from the desk in my 2018 GT and remounted the formerly hinged part of the desk on a Lagun mount. I removed the floor sockets, the post, and the heavy tabletop. from the AI
I made a light-weight overlay to make the table larger for dining. The overlay stores where the original tabletop stored.
I'm sitting here typing on it right now. It has been a great improvement in usability. I could hardly get around the original table.

2020 tb 19
We made the move discussed in thread......traded our GT EXT for a new TB 19’......there are many opinions on the MBUX screen size....7 or 10 inch. Ours (an early 2020) came with 7”. Is perfectly suitable....I really do not need a large glaring screen while driving at night.
The 2020 has all the safety stuff that a MB S-500 has.....really remarkable difference to drive than the EXT.
Steady 70 mph = 23 mpg; 72 = 22 mpg

Updates from jhayesas and beemerman!
I would love to hear updated reviews from owners of the Interstate 19. I am attracted to the idea of a coach that fits in any parking space, but I remain concerned about storage, especially with almost no space behind the lounge and with no significant storage in the cabinet above the lounge (the places we stored most things in our 24 ft. Interstate).
Also, have you felt limited by the tank sizes (fresh, grey, black, lpg)?
If I am remembering correctly the 19 doesn’t have air suspension... how is the ride vs. a 24 with air? Perhaps the 2500 chassis isn’t as stiff and doesn’t need it?
Any other criticisms or regrets, especially if you moved from a 24 to a 19?
Thanks.

Don't forget: no forward lounge in the 19. Your only lounge is either in back, or outside.

IS 19 info
SWH......have owned both: EXT with air (& leveling) and my new 19......the 19 drives like a dream....could maybe use a stiffer front sway bar....but I’m not about to change. Storage is tight.....we’re getting a “stowaway” hitch carrier for trips.....we use it as a “travel” vehicle......not a camper.....many upgrades with the 2020 (2019 MB chassis) Airstream model year

We had a 20 ft Flying Cloud Travel Trailer, we are able to park the AI in our back yard, able to go anywhere that any car can go. A little tight space but we are getting used to it try to carry as minimum stuff as much as possible. I wish I kept the 20 ft and tow it behind, just a thought but no it's not necessary.

We had the same thought about also buying a 16 or 19 ft Airstream trailer to pull behind for when we want to go with more than 2. Our kids are almost, but not completely, out of the house and there could definitely be times we’d like to camp with more than 2. And given the AI 19 has the same engine as the 24, it likely would pull a trailer even better. As for space, we already have a hitch storage box so we could use that for longer trips. The only unsolvable downside is max seating for 4 people, but I think we could live with that given the upsides that being able to park anywhere would bring.
Definitely not a buyer’s market right now. Pretty much zero new AI units in stock anywhere and ordering now means delivery in November/December. Also my local dealer quoted me about 10% off MSRP. When we purchased our 2017 Interstate we paid about 20% off MSRP. Haven’t gotten quotes from any other dealers yet. We also have a Class A that we want to trade in, and the 4-5 month wait on the AI makes valuing the trade pretty difficult (and not in my favor). Dealer has no interest in taking trade now and selling new one in 4-5 months. May try to sell the Class A privately now.

AI 19 Spare Tire?
We've just ordered a 19 4x4 so we won't see it for a while. But, having just realized that they don't come with a spare tire, we're wondering if any of you have installed any type of spare tire rack on the back.

We also have ordered a 2021 AI 19 4x4 and pale on installing a spare tire carrier that is attached to the rear door hinges on Driver side. The tire carrier package is fabricated by Agile Offroad in California.
