2017 GT re-surfacing in forum

I haven't posted much lately. Various life distractions. We haven't travelled as much, but have had some good trips: to Vicksburg and surrounding sites, to the southern Atlantic coastal cities, and our usual haunts in Arizona and New Mexico.

Since upgrading to lithium power, we have performed one other major upgrade: we installed the Houghton A/C, and strongly endorse it's benefit. Much quieter, cooler, and power efficient. We can easily run it on a 15A shore power circuit, and have power to spare for other purposes.

We have about 55K miles on the van now, and still think it was a great idea. Heading to the Texas Hill country now, and to Utah in May. Colorado in July. Maybe the Carolinas in the fall.

Sounds great! We enjoyed our visit to Vicksburg, and we recently did a round-trip from FL to CA and back in a month. Dipped toes in both oceans along the way.

Did you DIY the Houghton upgrade? If not, where did you get that done? Also, were there any surprises, good or bad, that cropped up as the work progressed?

Did you install the Houghton 3400?

It is a Houghton 3400, which includes heat pump and a/c.

Performed at Bob Jones RV in Houston TX.

No surprises, lots of pleasure. We had it painted silver to match van.

I am still thinking about your motorcycle advice. I’m still not ready to pull the trigger on the more expensive model that I SHOULD have, but that day may come.

I think you would enjoy a Yamaha TW200.

Ironically, my motorcycle days are over. My wife & I sold our large BMW GS 1250's because we weren't riding long distances anymore. We downsized to Yamaha XT250s just for local day rides. She didn't use it much, and we sold hers. Then a couple of months later, mine was stolen. (Progressive gave a full refund on original price, so I came out whole.)

So I'm thinking maybe providence is telling us it's time to hang up our helmets. We are 74.

And frankly, the joy was gone. Living inside the loop in Houston makes it so hard to get out to any decent riding area. We get more enjoyment focussing on our RV and at-home pursuits.
