2016 grand tour - question on connecting house batteries

I am a new owner of a 2016 Grand tour and was having house battery issue. Before removing my Lifeline 24t batteries, I took a picture of the wiring. (Attachment). When reinstalling, I noticed in the picture that one “red cable” was not attached to a battery post. That cable is located in the lower right corner of the picture. Having a loose cable doesn’t make sense. Should it be connected to something? Where?

On the battery post that I think this cable would be attached to is a fuse.

Thanks for any advice!

The 12v batteries must be connected in parallel.

Both positive battery posts should be connected together. Both negative battery posts should be connected together. There should be a red wire coming to either of the positive posts and a black wire coming to either of the positive posts.

Both batteries and posts are connected. The red cable across the top of the picture swings around to connect both batteries. The unconnected cable seems to be leading to a different location. Should it be connected to something ?

I have no idea what it might have been used for. There is nothing in that area that it would reasonably be connected to. I would remove it before it shorts to something.

I believe there should be two positive leads from the house batteries one is for the coach the other is for the generator starter

On my 2013 EXT the two batteries are not directly wired together + to + and - to -. Instead two red cables come from a common terminal at the front of the battery box, one to each + terminal. Ditto for two black cables to the - terminals. I wonder if the loose red cable was supposed to go to the + terminal on the other battery. Without that connection you are using only 1 battery.

I agree. Either nothing will turn on in the coach, or the generator won't turn over. I believe both red wires should connect through the big 100 Amp fuse on the battery terminal. If something goes really wrong, it will protect the batteries and/or the coach.

That looks familiar. The positive lead with the split loom protection should run over to the generator. The fused lead goes to the house power/inverter

Here are a couple pictures of my 2016 AI GT EXT. Looks similar to the picture for the 2018.
