2004 Interstate Generator Breaker?

Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping you experienced folks can help out this newbie. We have a 2004 Interstate and the generator isn't even attempting to turn over. From internet research I'm wondering if it's the breaker or fuse but I can't find where that is to save my life! I've posted some images of our RV, the previous owners did some "remodeling" so I'm wondering if it's behind the back panel they installed. or do I really have to take that large multi bolted cover off the generator itself, or is it staring me in the face and I just don't see it?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

IIRC there is a 5 A fuse *on the generator itself*, separate from the fuse panel inside the rig. It requires crawling under there to access it. I do recall stories of other owners having to replace theirs. Location should be in the owner’s manual which is available in PDF if you don’t have the original paper.

Wait - I just hauled up this thread on my full-sized workstation instead of my phone.

What kind of tire is that in the pic shown above? Why does it look like a dually? There were no 2004 Interstate duallies (i.e., no 3500s).

Are you sure? Those photos sure look like a T1N Sprinter. They did make 3500 duals back in 2004, perhaps Airstream used some of them.

Like mentioned, if you remove the back cover of the generator (no screws, but two clips you push up, then pull the bottom of the door off), there is a starter/kill toggle.
I would test to see if it starts with that ‘local’ switch first.
On the same housing as the starter toggle (inside generator) the breaker (AC I believe) and the fuse (DC 5A) is on the side. Toward the ‘inside’.

On mine (mid-bath) getting to that fuse with the spare in place is not very fun. But it appears on your model there is a tank or something there? (Perhaps the combined black/grey water tank?).

Driving it up on ramps will give better access.
I have a link for the service manual of the generator (I think the same one as my 2006). I will locate that and post.

So...
First remove the rear door of the generator (I’ve done it just crawling underneath).
Next try to start the generator with the switch located there.
If it starts, then you have an issue with the ‘remote start’. That is the one inside the van. On mine, it had a bad splice (crimp connector) on the wiring near the generator that goes up in the van.
If it doens’t start, then replace that 5A fuse and test.

the service manual does give good troubleshooting flow.

Thank you!!! Currently getting some rain here but I'll get under there and give a go as soon as things dry up a bit.

On RVWEB.com, they list it as 2004 with 2.7L 5-cyl 2500. But looks like T1N with Dually

I’d like to see some more pictures of it. I wonder how many of those they made? I don’t recall seeing it any any literature.

Ditto Mark. More pics. This is the first one I’ve ever heard of. We were led to believe that there were no T1N 3500s ever used by Airstream. Allegedly the switch to the NCV3 was supposed to coincide with the inauguration of the 3500.
