We have a sisal, or grass type runner and her bed on top of a scratching post. She uses those to scratch. She has been traveling with us since a kitten so that makes a big difference. She’s also comfortable with a harness and leash in State parks. Not interested in the curtains or cushions, but will go behind the curtains at night to look outside. You can do it, just takes patience. Good luck

What about when they do a major poo in the litter box....another discussion.....and you get to smell it during dinner?
I haven't figured that one out which is why I pay a trusted friend $20 bucks a day and with food in the fridge to cat sit. (the fee is earned as she is 19 1/2 and needs a pill and insulin twice a day).
We would love to take our furry friend with us. Just haven't sorted it all out. So listening intently.
We clean the litter boxes every day. Some times the poo is a little smelly but that's part of having a pet. We don't leave home without our2 cats. We enjoy their company especially during cold weather when the bed gets crowded.
