Just wanted to announce the arrival of our new pound puppy - she's nameless as of yet, but I'm sure we'll find something that fits. The folks at the pound named her Lea but I think we're going to find another name - the pup is only 7 weeks old so I don't think a new name will be too traumatic!!
She's the cutest thing ever (all puppies are) but her arrival is extra special given her very rough start to life. Seems as though some jerk put 6 puppies into a garbage bag and tossed them into a ditch from a moving car... Jerk is the mildest term I could come up with given the heinous nature of this act.
A couple walking by heard the cries and promptly rescued the poor pups - they were hours old. Two of them didn't end up making it. Here's an article. I now am the proud mama of the little girl mentioned in that article. All the pups have now found their forever homes. A good ending to a horrible beginning.
I haven't had time to take any pictures yet, but I've attached a few pics of her and her brothers.
Congratulations on your new addition to your family... She is a beauty... The person or persons that did this cowardly and heinous act should be shot.. .. Hope they are caught and punished...

Welcome home little girl! Thank you so much for rescuing. As for the person who abandon these poor little souls, he will one day get his. Karma can be a b*tch. Be sure to post lots of pictures when you're able!

I wish I could have paused time just a wee little bit, so that the itsy cute puppy phase could have lasted... We adopted her in August, she weighed 8 pounds.
Now she's a flying ball of energy and weighs closer to 50. Don't know what mix she's composed of, but Lab for sure as her paws are very webbed, and maybe Golden due to her colour, and perhaps Shepherd.
Next year's camping will be so much fun with a dog that likes the water - she's not a barker (thank goodness) but she will get so hyped up in the water that she'll shove her whole head underwater and bark like crazy. Sounds like an outboard motor.
I figure that all the laughing we do adds minutes onto our life - it's all a good thing.
Please - if anyone you know wants a dog - rescue a shelter dog. Gives great Karma points for starters, and they do make excellent companions.

I'm a die hard cynic towards animals, maybe it's from being a dairy farmer.
Awesome that what you have done. My wife has been bugging me for a few years to get a pooch, I have been cringing everytime I see a poor suffering guy driving down the road and his wife hugging a da da da dog (sorry, I was stuttering).
So to preclude the above, I bought a dog!
One of these days, we're going to have to organize a pet boondock. A boondock so we don't have to worry about parks.
Good luck!
