Yes, his one blue eye, one brown eye is what caught our eyes when he was profiled on TV by the local pound- we went down to the pound to check him out, he grabbed our hearts and never let go--- and he really doesn't mind the hat:-)

16 years of love- that is surely what he got and gave in return- no dog sleeps like that unless they are entirely comfortable with their surroundings. I hope that his memories will help to ease the sorrow. There is another lonely soul looking for you when you are ready.

I can relate. In my avatar, that's Daisy who we adopted almost 2 years ago now. That pic was taken about 30 seconds after the rescue place let her out of her cage. She still does that every single day. Really - who rescues whom in these deals? :-)

Some of you may remember Jake, 10 year old Chow/Jindo mix, from the last SpringStream (The Golden Boy on the left):

Anyway, a few weeks ago we found a huge growth on his tongue, and we were agonizing over how aggressively to treat it.

Our local vet is a saint, but one suggestion was to find a School of Veterinary Medicine that might be able to look at it and offer an opinion. Our local vet was fine with giving us the necessary referral.

Anyway, our appointment at the University of TN in Knoxville was yesterday, and some samples were taken then to biopsy.

Surgery was scheduled for today, and we dropped him off this morning. They said the surgery went well, though some of the tongue had to be removed. It was cancerous (melanoma), but had not spread that they could tell - the biopsy of his swollen lymph node was benign. Still, the average survival time is about 8 months, but we'll take every minute.

They originally wanted to keep him overnight, so I came home while Karen stayed with family. They called her about an hour ago and said he was doing so well they thought he'd recover better in familiar surroundings, so she's picking him up about 5P to bring him home (about 2 hrs south).

Anyway, right before dropping Jake off this morning:

Don't want to gross anyone out, but if you look closely you can see what we were dealing with. He should be a lot more comfortable with that gone.

Here's Murphy and Maddy. They haven't been Airstreaming as yet but will when we go to the WBCCI rally in Astoria OR this July.

Is Maddy a cocker ? We lost our beloved black female cocker Maddie three Saturdays ago. She was almost 15 went to the groomers, laid down in cage while she was waiting her turn and neve woke up. Heartbreaking. We are looking for a new pup. Maddie loved it when the AS rolled up before a trip, she loved camping. I'm going to put her tags in the AS so she can be forever camping
