Poor Snowball passed away recently. He is sorely missed. He got one last camping trip this spring, and I thought he had a few more in him, but it wasn't to be. I was hoping to sit around a campfire with him on my lap, under a blanket - I'm certain he would've loved that - but I waited too long to try it.

However, last November, we adopted this lovable creature, named Minnie. Here she is confirming the trailer's battery voltage and interior temperature were within tolerable limits, carefully hanging on the suddenly well-named "mouse fur" to do so.



Here she is in "Queen of the Camper" mode. The leadership role was previously handled by Snowball, but now it's Minnie.

We've also adopted another cat, who we've named Nibbler. Nibbler spent pretty much the entire first week hiding under our guest room bed, so we do not have many pictures of him yet, and I don't have a good one to post. We're still doing the Minnie-Nibbler introduction thing; hopefully they'll be able to stay together indefinitely soon. Nibbler hasn't visited the camper yet - we're trying to get him comfortable in the house, first. He's perking up quite well, though, so I'm sure he'll be great with Minnie once we get over their initial concerns.

Love the pet pictures. Even more impressed on how many pets are rescues . So glad to see people open their doors and give animals a second chance. From all the pictures I see, these pets are treated like family. Pets are so entertaining, sometimes you wonder who saved who?

Barney Barncat. Grey Bengal/DSH mix.

He 'adopted' us 18mths ago. He was feral, in our barn, but struggling to survive with pneumonia and couldn't hunt with his noisy breathing. We caught him in a racoon trap. He bit me so we decided he needed rabies shots! Worms, ear mites, neutering, innoculations for FIV, etc, etc. The most expensive 'free' cat ever. He has turned out to be a real gentleman, very friendly and inquisitive.

We are currently training him to be a 'streamer' and he commutes between Chicago and the Michigan farm most weekends. He hates the big trucks but likes looking out from the front seat. Harness training too.

The day we caught him (2.5lbs )....and a year later (11.5lbs )....
