Our Best Friends, If You Can...

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can get going without pep pills,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without liquor,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs....

THEN YOU ARE PROBABLY THE FAMILY DOG!!

While not actually a 'religious' type, I try to follow the 'do unto others...etc.' as a guide in my day-to-day activities, business or otherwise...

I tend to leave the drugs and med's to those that think they can't do without em'...unless my Doc twists my arm for some particular maladay...

Laughter is the best medicine, seems like a credo that makes lots of sense to me...

I have to admit that a cool 'toddy' out on the veranda, while watching the sun sink in the west is an activity that helps keep one's sanity in check...

And a nice old mild stogie, a couple of times a weeks, out there on the patio gives me a chance to reflect on current events in our family's life, and realize, in the whole scheme of things, I'm not all that improtant...

Our family dogs just want to go chase tennis balls...not a bad avocation, these days....

Bill,
you nailed it...our child is 18 years old, and every day is a treasure...it's coming, but still...

M- 18 years, Congradulations and WOW.
We certainly understand "every day is a treasure" as ours is 15 years. Our grown children refer to him as "the replacement kid" and truer words were never said.

"it's coming, but still..." Our boy has all the 'old people' ailments one can have but the bottom line is that he's very happy so we're there for him till the wheels fall off...

Bill,
Yep, we've been through parvo, kidney failure, and assorted injuries when she thought she was a rotweiler, only she's a terrier but doesn't recognize this...I wish I had the nerve to take on something 10 times my size, but fortunately I haven't, the vet bills are kinda high, but my repair would require more...I did have a bear walk by my porch last year...must have been 400+ pounds...just ambling down the sidewalk like an oversized dog...didn't vacate any cavities, but I'm not sure why...he/she was about 8 feet from me...I think I'll keep Gracie and as long as I can...yep, old folks require a bit more attention...but it's worth it...m
