We carry over 3300 different Airstream parts in stock.

Our web site is a "sale list" only.

I saw one of these on a wrecked Airstream at Colaw's, it is actually used to hold the screen door to the outside door and would be too long to use to fasten the screen door itself closed, at least for ours. There is really no good place to screw it to on the screen door. Nice piece, tho, operates very smoothly. The one we bought at Home Depot is about half the size of that one.

By the way, I found a screen door fastener that looks just like the one that Andy has, at Home Depot for under $5. We haven't installed it yet but I am sure it will work, I will have to open the mosquito guard to reach inside and open it, but no problem there.

The mosquito guard on our door was long gone, and it is a small size that we can't find at the RV stores, so I made one. Remembering the one on my old Spartan, which was just an aluminum slider, I made one like that out of some left over aluminum flashing, slipped it into the channel and it works fine. If it gets torn up, well, I have a roll of about 5' of flashing and I'll just make another one.
Finally! Pictures! And a screen guard from Colaw's: No escaping cat from these!

Do you have a link for that shield?

I picked mine up at Oasis RV in Tucson. Any well supplied Airstream dealer should carry the part. There are actually two pieces. The one in the picture and a smaller one for the top screen. I did not install the top one.

I also install an additional latch, like the one that Andy has pictured. The dogs are now secure in the trailer.

Thank you.
I have one of those small guards laying around the garage too.
I think I'll bring it to the next rally and give it away there.

I tried a couple of Airstream dealer's "online" parts depts for the big guard but didn't get very far.
Guess I'll actually have to use a telephone!

I ordered one of those latches last night.

This is an easy answer.....

It only took one time for my cat to touch my solution to her unlatching the screen door, she never went near it again. The solution is
Masking tape...... Pull off a piece about two feet long , twiste the piece to make some small loops and stick it beside the door where she would have to touch it to get out or near the latch. Once it gets stuck on her hair, she will steer clear of it. Put is where it won't catch you as you go in or out. This also can be used to keep your curious cat from areas that are dangerous to her too or off the furniture. Please use the easy release type of masking tape, it is the scare that keeps the cats respectful of the tape, not the hurt that would happen if you use a tape tha pulls out hair.

Wonder if the tape would work on our small dog, she quickly found out ya just slide that over and there's all the hole i need to get out and follow you. Was pretty funny the first 3 or 4 times now we close the door all the way and go for shorter walks.

It's known that the more "pointy" faced cats, like the Tonkenese, Burmese, Siamease, Abbasiniean, etc. are, generally smarter than average.
I did some boat sitting for a couple that had a cat, that could open a portlight, but he would look around first, to see if he was being watched. Had to make sure that the portlight screws were tightned down.
Ah yes,,,, Gods little creatures.......
