In Deep Kimchi !

Well, I don't know how I'm going to explain this to me son.....

My wife, Suni, and I were charged with watching my son's 4 year old Chihuahua while he's been training for a new job back east.

Sometime between the time I left for work and my wife went to visit her sister, the dog disappeared.

Looked all over the neighborhood for him, ask the local kids and the city and county dog pound. No luck.

As we were only watching him, we have no pictures or papers for proof that he belongs to my son. So, I am not trying to figure out how to tell me son that his dog has run away with out my son thinking we purposely let it happen.

Sorry guys, don't mean to dump on you, but I had to vent to someone.

We have had our own Chihuahua run off from home. They can travel quite far for being so small. Our Ted was found by a motorist over a mile from our home, so you may want to broaden your search area. Jeff

This may sound crazy, but try following a route towards your sons home. for a mile or so, he is probably trying to go there not realizing it is so far. I have heard of animals doing this, especially dogs. He is just trying to get home. Good luck with your search, I hope he is ok.

If it has tags from the vet, someone may call the vet if they find the dog.
And, offer a very generous reward. If someone thought of selling the dog or even keeping it, make it worth while to return it.

I am sorry this happened, but you still might get it back. Just depends if an honest person finds it.

Tell your son ASAP. He may have ideas of his own and also pictures to send to you. Who knows, the dog may have a chip, or tattoo. Where we live, with the value of dogs so high, people are stealing them and selling them.

You can imagine how confused and scared the little critter is by now. "Oops, I screwed up, now what do I do? I can't ask for directions (must be a guy dog) so I have to rely on my sense of smell. Whew, who did THAT! I'm outta here.........."

Good luck and keep us posted.

Barry

Oh gosh! Hopefully the dog is chipped, so that if someone finds him, they can contact the dog's vet. Even without photos, you can put up flyers all over with a description and contact info. You can also contact your local radio stations. They will usually make lost pet announcements free of charge, as a public service. Good luck to you and the pup.

If the dog is chipped, you MUST get the paper work from your son. The owner registered at the time of implantation is the ONLY person the dog will be released to. My close friend (and vet) was very clear on that point, when he shipped my dogs.

It's a shame such a small percentage of dogs are chipped / and clipped....

Hopefully he will turn up somewhere when he gets hungry. Put flyers out at the grocery and pet stores near by.

When you talk to your son you may want to use the excuse I used a lot ...... "The Dog Ate IT! I'm certain your son will be understanding if you do you best to figure out where he's gone to.

Good luck.
