Happy Gotcha Day Samm!
I hope you don't mind my sharing, but one year ago today my boy Samm flew from Colorado (he was driven from a shelter in Kansas to Colorado by a lab rescue volunteer) to his new home in British Columbia to join me and my young chocolate lab, Kai.
Kai and Samm hit it off right from the beginning and were very quick to bond to one another. The two can play for hours and Samm is often the one to initiate a game of bitey face or wrestling. He also has a great temperment and loves to meet people. When we walk along a busy sidewalk, his tail is going non-stop and he turns into a real wiggle-butt when people come to say hello. Every day I ask how anybody could have abandon such a great dog.
Here are a few pictures from his first day home.
At the airport:

Samm & Kai's first meeting:

Let the playing begin!

Bestest friends:

Here's hoping Samm has enjoyed this past year as much as I have

We got an abused yellow lab at the pound. Brought him home and he hid cowering under the coffee table for three monthes. Three years later and he's been out of his shell and a real treat to have around. He's 160 lbs. of goofy in a 85 lbs dog. I'd like to meet the fella that abused him and show him the beauty and elegance of a baseball bat in action.
If you ever need a coffee table cleaned off have a lab wag his tail.

Thanks for sharing. The best way to get a dog is to rescue one.

Sometimes things happen so that other things that follow are that much better. Our friends were fostering a dog, cross between a yellow lab and whippet, that had been thrown through a windshield in a car accident. The owner had taken the car without permission and was attempting to avoid the police and ran a red light. The dog ended up at the Humane Society after much surgery. Once she got to our friends place and their own dog took to the new one like they'd been born together they chose to adopt her. She's the most gentle, loving and appreciative dog I have ever seen. A true gift to them and they to her. Rescue dogs are incredibly appreciative of their new homes and will reward you with love and affection all their short time with us.
Thanks for sharing your story. It's always nice to hear of good news stories.

Me Too
We have a lab and a lab mix - both are rescue dogs. Clancy we paid for, couldn't let him end up a "deer dog" like his father was made into, Boudreaux was a "wander up" dog (the kind that wander up to your house and end up staying). Wouldn't dream of being mean to either one of them, cannot understand the mindset of a person that could. Both are beyond smart for dogs and have provided the best companionship for my wife when I travel. You're lucky to have them in your life, and they were lucky to find you, consider yourself blessed.

Great pics! They look like the buddy tussles going on at our place between our German Shorthair pup and the BIG yellow lab I'm granddog sitting for my daughter--while 'Ol Wally wallows around watching, but wise enough to stay out of it! Dogs, we need to tell them everyday just how great they are ~G

Nothing better.
Nothing better than a rescue we have one we rescued 4 years ago. He is king of the coop and he knows it. Great pics.

Wiggle-Butt
Ha ha Cameron that is too funny; our nickname for our Clara Belle is also "wiggle-butt". She gets so excited to see us and so affectionate she practically wiggles herself inside out. And she and Woodrow LOVE playing bitey-face. Labs are the best friends a human can have.
