Which hitch for 23 foot Flying Cloud? Equalizer or Hensley?

My daughter just bought a 2019 Flying Cloud 23 foot that came with an Equalizer hitch. I have a completely rebuilt Hensley that I got back from Hensley before I bought my ProPride for my 1999 28 foot Excella. Is the Hensley overkill for the 23 foot Flying Cloud or should I install it rather than the Equalizer?

If I already had a Hensley i would probably install it. Though it does make a difference what your daughter will be towing it with (important piece of missing info).

Ok, then it just depends on payload. If the extra 100 lbs of the Hensley will make it too close to payload limit.

Hitch Choice

One of the factors to be consider is the hitch weight. Not only because of its impact on payload but also the challenge of installing the hitch. The Hensley hitches are heavy. We use a BlueOx hitch and find it more than enough with our 23 foot and F150. Your Equilizer hitch should be more than sufficient.

Depends on what you call overkill. Since we bought our 2002 19' new, we have towed it with a Hensley hitch and couldn't be happier. No sway (as expected) and the trailer and the tow vehicle have always been more stable when hitched up than the tow vehicle alone. Our tow vehicles have always been Jeep Grand Cherokees. If I had the choice without any extra cost between an Equalizer and a rebuilt Hensley, I would be out installing the Hensley right now.
