Anyone have a good recommendation for an aftermarket trailer brake control? Thanks!

Tekonsha Prodigy is a very good one. I have a P2 and it works very well. The P3 is an update and has some extra toots and whistles. Easy to install and very responsive unit. I think it is the popular choice here.

Yeah, I have never done that [used the mobile app], as I am on a laptop with keyboard and mouse. The good ol' days!
Good luck,
Peter

laptop & a keyboard?? what are those? I use this small thing that I carry in my pocket that on occasion rings and people talk to me through it.
It is incredable the power our electronic Leatherman has.

I added the P-3 to my Tundra and it should have been a 15 minute job. Most recent trucks are prewired with a connector and Tekonsha sells the adapter cable. It was a no brainer. I took an hour because I took the panel off so I could drill the holes and mount the bracket off the truck. Disconnecting the other switches stumped me for a time.

70CT, by now I think you know how we feel about the Prodigy. I will add just one more story and then leave you to it. I purchased a P2 when they were relatively new and had it installed in my 4Runner when I was towing a hybrid. It worked so well that when I upgraded to my '08 Tundra I installed it there myself. Very easy with the Toyota adapter.
I just purchased a new 2017 Tundra that came with a built in integrated controller. To my dismay I discovered that this was a timed controller that didn't work very well. Because it was mounted in the dash I had to go online to find a replacement part that would accept my P2 and then had to find a new adapter since the new Tundra had changed. I did all of this and installed my old P2 into the dash myself. I have been on a few trips and I still am very happy with the P2. I am sure that the P3 would be even better.

You just convinced me to install the P3 I took out of my Tacoma when I traded it in for the Tundra. I'm constantly trying to adjust the stock controller with no luck. P3 was no trouble.

Have used our P3 on three vehicles so far. It's flat out a keeper. I love the way it modulates braking based on the hill angle as well. Once I set it right, the AS stays behind us with no "push". It and the ProPride, properly tuned, make for a nice, comfortable, and safe ride while towing. The accelerometer technology in the P3 seems to be the best tech so far.

Thanks for the update. Let us know how it goes.
What is your tow vehicle BTW? Some are easier than others apparently, in terms of adding an after-market controller.
Have a good weekend.

It's going on a 2011 Ford Expedition, towing a 30 Int'l Serenity. I'll update on the install.

Check YouTube for video assistance.
There was my exact vehicle and instructions on where the connector was.
Like this:
The P-3 comes with a wiring pigtail, but I bought the adaptor cable from Amazon for $13. Plug and play.
