Towing vehicle advice

Hello all. My wife and I own a 2011 Bambi 22FB Sport.
We currently live in Colorado at altitude but we are moving to Greenville South Carolina. We currently tow her with a 2006 F150 and would like to get an SUV instead of the truck for towing her. Does anyone have a suggestion on what vehicle would do the job. We have recently seen an ad for Lexus towing a Bambi ( not that we want a Lexus).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there. Is there a reason you're not happy with your current TV? These kinds of questions (tow vehicles, hitches, tires) tend to get overheated from time to time as folks tend to be passionate about their choices.

Having said that, you might want to try a search for "tow vehicle Bambi" and you'll find several threads that might be of some help.

What is the trailer weight and tongue weight? That might also help settle in on some choices. Good luck!

We use a Ford Expedition to tow our 25' Flying Cloud. Does a great job, plenty of power and roomy too.

Since the GVW is only 4,500 pounds ands the tongue weight would probably be under 500 pounds, almost and SUV that has a factory installed hitch would handle this easily.

Even my 2007 Mercedes ML 320 CDI diesel would scamper down the road with this. It pulled my 2013 25FB International Serenity home, but the numbers failed after loading the trailer up for camping.

Dureedesign,

No advice on TV, but you are moving to an area that will have a lot of neat areas to camp or visit. Rapidly becoming my favorite destination the Upstate of SC and Western NC. Lots of possibilities.

We have a pretty active forum gang with two get togethers per year so far, next one has not been scheduled but looks like late march just outside of Columbia at Wateree SP. Watch for announcement.

We just moved to Fountain Inn which is on the south side of Greenville. We really love it here so far. This is our retirement home close to our grandchildren. You can camp in the mountains one day and on the beach the next. You can't beat that.

Gary, Thanks, we are really looking forward to the move. Once we get settled we would love to keep in touch with you for some camping suggestion. We will be joining the local WB Chapter.
As for the TV we probably will just keep our F150, it's low on miles and in great shape.

WE will have to look into Fountain Inn area. We have not yet bought a home there. We will be leaving by the end of the week and will start looking when we arrive. Our broker there has begun a list of homes to look at.

For us it too is probably our retirement home although we are not quite ready to retire, in fact my wife and I will hopefully be opening a restaurant.

2011 or newer Dodge Durango. A great vehicle- same platform as the Mercedes GL.

If, as you say, there's nothing wrong with your pickup and if it tows your trailer well, the next likely reason people look at SUVs is for more interior space, often more cargo space that's protected from the weather.

A cap or tonneau is generally much less expensive than the transactional cost of swapping vehicles. The most economical vehicle is almost always the paid-for one you already own.

Mercedes Benz ML 350 Bluetec has 455 lb-ft of torque (more than many 1/2 ton pick up trucks) at 1600 RPM. MB GL 350 Bluetec has the same engine as ML, but has a longer wheelbase and weights 500# more -- these metrics help with stability. Toyota Land Cruiser is another great option, 8200# towing capacity, but its pricey.

What type restaurant you hoping to open?

If its BBQ can start many discussions, opinions, arguments, on that one you get the idea.

BBQ is a regional speciality in the Carolina's.
