Tow Mirrors
I have a 2002 Explorer that I drag around my 1998 25' Safari.
What kind of mirrors would you guys suggest. Thanks

Wlynn, welcome to the forums! I think you will find varying opinions on tow mirrors but there are several brands that seem to pop up on here a bunch. CIPA, Hensley, Aero (see link to Aero) JR Products I had Cipa and lots of folks have had good luck with them. But I recently had one blow off on a bridge so I have now ordered some real replacement tow mirrors for my vehicle. The only reason I have the link is because I had a thread about this within the last few days. "If you buy a Tundra". Try the search button and see what you get. Lot's of posts in here about mirrors. But the hard part is deciding... You will find some that are perfect for you. Good luck!

I just got set of Longview mirrors from etrailer.com. They slip over the mirrors on my Tundra and look good and really give a good field of view. I had used the ones that attached to the truck mirror glass with a suction cup. I had a bad blind spot no matter what I did. Longview makes mirrors for a varity of vehicles

We really like our McKesh mirrors. I would also recommend the optional convex mirror for both sides.
We have them on our Yukon Denali and have towed over 30,000 miles with them.

Tow Mirrors
I agree with Debbie. McKesh will be the last set of towing mirrors that you will need to buy. Much like ZipDee, McKesh supports their product with repair parts indefinitely. I have one set of chrome McKesh mirrors that date back to the late 1960s or very early 1970s . . . renewed them with new pads and straps and they are good to go for another decade. The McKesh mirrors that I keep for my Suburban date to 1990, and they were also recently renewed with new pads and straps so they, too, are good for another decade or more before they will need replacement parts. I also second the recommendation for the optional convex mirrors on both sides.
Good luck with your investigation!
Kevin

Mckesh all the way! Never regretted buying them. Dont worry, they wont scratch your finish if you put them on a clean vehicle.

Thanks to all of you for your details and info.
I am concerned about the mirrors that slide in the top of the door.
In Florida the rubber gets really hard on the old trucks.
Don't know yet but have good info now. Thanks

The McKesh mirrors aren't particularly hard on the window sweeps and other rubber/soft parts where they attach to the tow vehicle's door. They have posed no problems with my '75 Eldorado or '85 Oldsmobile tow vehicles and both still have their factory original door components. Frequent, thorough applications of rubber/plastic preservative/softeners will stave off damage for years in my experience -- I tend to keep vehicles for years . . . I still have and drive the first vehicle that I purchased in 1974 (and it was 9 years old then). It is in the photo below with my 1980 Nomad in 1980 . . . .
At the car wash in about 1976 . . . . .
Good luck with your investigation!

I have two sets of mirrors collecting dust in my garage. One was used on my 2000 F150 and the other on my 2009 E350. Let me know iof either of them will work.

Are the mirrors still available?
