Toppers and Bed Slides

We've decided to give up the golf cart idea after only one outing, it was just too much off a PITA. So, I put it up for sale last week and sold it sold today. Now my idea is a topper and a bed slide. I'm going to go with a Leer 100 xq and a CargoGlide CG1500XL. Is anyone running a combo like this? Or, what are ya'lls ideas.

Thanks

I have a Decked system with Cap. Cap is and ARE with "windoors" - IE the windows on the cap all flip up so I can get at gear in the bed easily. The bed is full side-to-side and raised with full length drawers underneath....

Picture is not my truck but basically same setup. I like that everything inside stays dry, and that I have both drawers and a flat bed for additional storage / loading.

Just a thought...

Here's my setup. Leer cap, no bedslide. I needed room to get the bikes in there.

Hi

If you do a cover (as opposed to a cap) with a slide, there isn't a lot of height above the slide. Things like a generator may be tough to fit.

If you go with a cap *and* a slide, that's a lot of weight. I'd suggest you carefully look at the numbers.

I have all three. Leer 180 for extra height on the cap and a cargo glide 1000 on top of drawers.

Exactly what I'm looking at, except I'm going with a 1500 slide, Do you feel that you ever have 2200 lbs in the bed?..............Maybe I should upgrade.

I'm ordering it all on Friday, the dealer said, at least a 2 month wait.

Very pleased. My slide took forever to come in…. Worth the wait.

What exactly do you plan to put in there? I assume, given the golf cart experiment, you have plenty of payload. So volume is limiting?
I have the tall ARE with a 4X8 sheet of plywood cut to 50 some “ and installed sideways atop the extra length cut in half . Minimal weight for the space, and just enough room for our trikes, or for our regular bikes with the front wheels off, on top the plattorm, plus a bunch of other STUFF.
It’s not fancy, and I need to plan what goes in the very front of the bed (harder to access), but it works.

Ya, I'm more than ok on the payload. It's just , I see no reason to spend the extra money or space to have the 2200 over the 1500. And yes, I can and will add the weight of all my stuff I plan on putting on it up and see what I have. It will be like two 2000 Hondas, two rad e bikes, probably 10/15 gallons of gas, misc. tools to overhaul a 747 if the need arises of course, kuma chairs, gmg smoker, q-grill, Blackstone, dutch ovens.....dang, maybe I should look at the 2200.

My load out on the slide full time camping is:

Propane grill (50)
20lb propane tank (50)
Water softer (30)
Ranger solo stove (10)
4 camp chairs (20)
1 recliner (10)
2 camp folding tables (15)
1 bin full of fly fishing tackle (10)

2 Yamaha 2200 generators (100)
2 1/2 gal gas for above (25)

I figure total weight less than 350 lbs.

All the above is great - BUT remember it adds weight!!!!!! so make sure you run the numbers GVWR TV & AS + hitch weight & don't forget GCVWR. While I like all the above weight is the killer..... If you are at or close to your max weight when you load your stuff you need to really think it through.

I have the cargoglide CG 1500XL with an A R E cap. I had tool boxes put in where the cap windows would normally be. While this is very handy, I lose a lot of interior space because of the boxes. The CG 1500 bed glide is fantastic. Fully loaded ready to go I have just under 500 lbs on it. Great part is not having to climb into the truck bed to reach something.

Yes it does - in my case about 600 lbs for all 3. Luckily I have an F350 so it was not an issue. Another reason I am happy for the accidental overkill truck I have. (Went in to buy a 250 but got too good a deal on an in stock 350)

We have F350 with Leer cap with side opening windows, 90 US gal auxiliary diesel fuel tank, and 2000lb CargoEase Bedslide with 3/4 pullout. I absolutely love the set-up but am aware of the extra weight. Ie: approximately 200 lbs for Leer Cap, approximately 600 lbs for full fuel tank plus tank weight, approximately 200 lbs for bedslide . It does not take long to quickly use up your payload. The F350 handles everything nicely plus our 30 ft Airstream Classic.

I'll second this one. Same setup with the exception that I have the "walk-in-door" option on the cap. Very happy with it. The one caveat is that you have to run an extended hitch to get the big door fully open. I run with a ProPride 3P so I have plenty of room. On occasion, if parked on a sharp curve, I can't fully open the door, but have never been blocked to the point where I couldn't get stuff out that I needed. The walk-in-door is always accessible so the only things hindered are the pull out drawers.

I keep my tools in the drawers and stuff like poo wagon, generator, leveling blocks, water filter/softener etc on top. I also have tracks on the top where I can carry my canoe when I want to. Bikes ore on the rear of the Airstream.

I have a hdpp f150 with an ARE truck cap with side opening windows and a decked system. I love this setup. All my tools, tackle, rv extension cords go in the drawers. Coolers can be accessed from the side windows easily. I generally bring a zodiac with a small outboard engine, chairs, shade tent, tables (one with an outdoor sink) a camp chef 3 burner stove with a cast iron bbq box. etc.... It's a great setup but it does add a lot of weight. The cap/decked and my tools with me including adds an extra 968 pounds to the base weigh of the truck. Luckily my hdpp package gives me a payload of near 2500 pounds. I tow a sport 22fb so I have some payload to spare.

I rigged our TV 2020 Ford F-250 Tremor 6.7 Diesel with a custom built set up from Highway Products out of White City, OR.
Center Slide rated at 2k lbs with side toolboxes on each side.
Center Slide carries the larger necessities for the Airstream, Champion 3100 Gen Set, BBQ, Table, Chairs, Coolers, Buckets, Water Bladders etc., side tools boxes carry all necessary hand tools, and emergency equipment, i.e, full set of hand tools for 95% of mechanical and electrical requirements for bot the TV and the Trailer, power / lithium battery drill and impact set, 12v air comp, tire changing equipment, tie down tools, towing tools, come-a-long, power cords and misc., etc.
Carries everything I need to manage the trailer and emergency needs when they happen.
The unit is well built, heavy duty, durable and all compartments are lockable and very secure.
Ref. attached pdf file of the set up.
