Tahoe lift gate hits trailer jack
Hello,
Has anyone else had this problem... 2019 25FC FB - My tow rig is a 2020 Tahoe and the lift gate hits the trailer jack - I almost always un-hitch when we are out but sometime we stay hitched and it's a real PIA to get gear out of the back of the Tahoe. Any suggestion would be most welcome.
Thanks

The issue has affected many. For most, the solution is to rotate the jack head.

I'm not sure how the Tahoe tail gate works, but on my trucks in the past, the tailgate was easily removed by opening slightly and lifting up and out. Obviously the "ease" will depend on the weight of the gate, but removing the gate for access once you reach your destination may be an option while towing.

Are you using a weight distribution hitch? A Hensley Arrow or Pro Pride will give you 18” additional clearance. It’s also well worth the investment coming from someone who previously used a blue Ox & Equalizer. If your going to be doing a lot of trailering. Get one of those hitches. No more hatch issues, you will never feel your trailer sway ever again.

Truth. When I was using a Hensley Hitch (it was overkill for my situation, but they are fantastic for sway!), I could practically lay down between the trailer and vehicle. Without it, I have to remove the spare tire from the gate to even hitch up.

I've got a Yukon that does the same. I found that if I extend the tongue jack to the extent it lifts the hitch a few inches, the tailgate will clear the jack. Just remember the jack is down in the morning, if you don't retract it once you are done. Sometimes, I just open the window instead of the whole hatch . . .

IF it is the control mechanism that is in the way. Loosen the hex screw and rotate. If that does not fix the issue... longer shank.
A bigger issue is if you make a sharp turn, your tail light may make contact with the Rock Guard, denting it and pushing it into the aluminum panel of the Airstream.
Once you get it worked out, let everyone know. I use Equalizer Hitches with the bars and have lots of distance and can be 90 degrees and have clearance between the tail light and trailer.
One year of Tundra's had bulging tail lights (maybe the 2008) and these tail lights were not on the later models. (For those with Tundras... of course.)

Another one for the Hensley Cub WD/AS hitch for hatch/tailgate clearance, as well as to eliminate sway for comfortable driving, ease of using crank jacks for the torsion bars adjustments, no need to take off the hitch head & bars when parked, tighter turning radii, & other advantages.
Cheers!

Had the same problem on my RAM truck. Bought an 8” hitch extender from etrailer that is rated for 10k pounds. Works great and didn’t cost much. Not sure if there’s one for a 2” receiver with enough weight rating for your 25’ trailer but may be worth a look.

I have a toyota sequoia (love it) but gate will sometimes hit depending on the pitch of the ground I am parked on. I use the jack to slightly raise the trailer while hitched and that will help it clear. I also pack where I can roll down the back window to get at stuff.

Tahoe 'lift' gate, I'll assume is a SUV with a rear door that goes up.
If you choose to turn the jack head here's how I did mine.
