Repair/replacement of tongue jack 1957 Overlander

Hi all,
I am not sure whether this belongs here or in general repair but I put it here. Hope this is ok. Our '57 Overlander has a jack that is welded on (see images).
I wonder whether, and if, how it could be repaired. The easiest would be to repair the existent jack - not sure that is possible. Is it?
Ideally I would like to take it off, find the 3 holes to install an a-frame jack below the round base plate, get a nice jack and be done with it. I doubt this is what would happen.
Any ideas how to fix the problem without welding on a new jack or drilling holes and install screw threads?

I don't know for sure, but it looks beyond repair to me.

It would be a simple matter to grind those welds off, and then install a new jack. That's what I'd do, and it wouldn't take a welder 30 minutes to do the job if you don't have the capabilities.

If the jack is not repairable then yes remove it and look to see what surprise the po left under the cover. Then if possible drill the needed holes. Can you see anything from the back side? Talking maybe a easier way to remove the current jack?
