Propride Long 7 Pin Cord hanging.

The Propride hitch requires a longer 7 pin cord. The problem is the extension causes the cord to hang down. I had a small problem on one occasion and I had to replace the extension. What have some of you done to eliminate the “cord hanging” issue?

Propride Long 7 Pin Cord hanging.

I rearranged the OEM umbilical routing on my Airstream A-frame to gain a few inches to easily reach the socket on the truck. My socket is close to the centerline on this Tacoma. It now stays in during hard turns in either direction.

Others have used a light weight bungee cord to hold it up a little. Some use a Velcro strap to assure the plug does not pull out.

That said, I plan to replace my unreliable OEM straight 7 blade cord with a curly cord from EZconnector that couples up magnetically and is more corrosion resistant because it has gold plated contacts. The plug is potted and totally waterproof. Takes a strong two-handed yank just to unplug it.

I did have to extend my OEM safety chains by about 3-4 links to avoid any binding using the ProPride extension kit. It’s very heavy duty straight shackles allows me to adjust the length to ‘just right’ without trying to cut this very heavy chain.

I found that a short piece of double sided Velcro looped through the top hole on the stinger kept it from tangling up and pulling out of the truck socket on our ProPride hitch.

I am using these plastic ties to hold the 7 pin connector from dislodging. They are strong, reusable and versatile addition to my fix kit. Available in several lengths.

I use a zip tie to fix some of the extra cord to the hitch lever... similar to bob's / silvr_bullet's approach...
