Nutty Question...Would a Conversion Van Pull 24 ft?

Hi ya'll! OK, the problem I need to solve is my children need to be doing school work when we are on the road. My Expedition just doesn't get it, even with lap tables.

I am thinking a sitting table in a conversion van.

Anyone have thoughts about pulling our 24 foot airstream with a van?

We've been towing our Caravel with a full size E150 Ford van for the past 10 years (recently retired for the Flex). It did a fine job. As to if it is better suited to doing homework, I can't say But I am pretty sure it could handle towing your Argosy!

My neighbor had an E150 conversion van towing his 29' for years. He just sold the van and bought an Expedition. He has already commented on the loss of storage space.

We have the same issue with the Flex. Once you have a van, it's hard to go back. We do miss the cavernous back end.

BTW, you do not need a conversion van. Passenger vans are cheaper, though a little harder to find, and do not has as much weight added to them. We removed all but one seat and put it in the middle position, leaving plenty of room in the way-back, and certainly enough room between the seat and the front seats for a small table.

Thanks. I figure if we are spending four months out of the year traveling in it, ought to be comfortable....and pull without yanking out the back end or wrecking the transmission.

The right conversion van will work well. My parents pulled a 27' Airstream, for many years, with a Chevy van and later, with a Ford van. Both of these were 1/2 ton conversion vans.
