I happily ended up with the 1963 Globe Trotter, 19', in the breakup. I'm not handy at all, sadly, and just spent a lot of money having "Stella" fixed up - polished, new axle, compost toilet, fresh water tank and pex, gray tank etc. A good friend towed her home for me and parked her in my driveway. I heard a huge scrape and looked under to see a huge gash in something sticking down 6" from the underbelly. Turns out my airstream guy didn't install a low profile gray tank when he took out the subfloor to put one in. He says the fix is repair the hole and add skid wheels. I've lost confidence in him - project 3 months past due, and water had flooded my new renovation because he forgot to tip urn off the water pump and a faucet opened on the drive home. I'm discouraged but not giving up.

So, ideas about skid wheels and I also need a tow vehicle. Avoiding to the weight chart she weighs 2770 pounds, so figure 4,000 max what do I need to tie her? Is a 5,000 pound rating enough? I'd rather not get a truck. Thanks!

Take a deep breath and press on. It sounds like the only "real Damage" is the tank. Replace it with one which is a better fit...I hate those hang down tanks in the first place and truthfully don't really use 'em at all. If your in a developed site the grey dumps automatically in the system. If your out in the boonies..the hose drain is perfect. And, if those don't help you...get a Blue Boy tank. Are you handy at all? All those fixes are cheap and easy and will get you on the road. Important here....dump the previous "tradesman." The pump switch is on you. It should have been explained to you if your were on the return trip to new home. If He did it and caused the water damage...it's on him. Just use a fan and dry out the inside and press on.

Skid wheels are a no no because they will put excessive pressure on the rear end of the trailer.

Trailer weight is rolling weight not dead weight. Tounge weight is critical [and not having the tail wagging the dog]. Talk to some one that can spec tv. for pulling, most sales men don't have a clue how to spec vehicle only what he reads for options avlb. As for skid wheels, if they drag you can damage frame and can skin at back end. I drug rt. rear at gas station, canned rt. rear corner at bottom rt. side, luckily no frame damage. [No skid wheels] If had them there would have been severe damage to AS

You need to replace the gray tank with one (or two) of the AS specific 4 inch high ones and repair the belly pan.
Many small SUV's will tow 4000-5000 lbs and fortunately the tongue weight on 60's vintage trailers tends to be light.

I have a 1964 Globetrotter and have been very successful towing it with a Toyota 4Runner SUV. The car is rated at a 5000 pound towing capacity.
It has a 4 litre V6 engine.

Sorry to hear about your damage to the grey water tank.
