MPG when towing with Range Rover Diesel/SC V8?

First post here - going to get a 2017 International 27FB Twin in the new year.

I put in an order for a 2017 Range Rover Sport Diesel (will get hitch reinforced at Can-Am), but I'm not sure how much of a hassle the Diesel will end up being with needing DEF, Cetane Boost, and the lack of a lot of choices for filling stations with Diesel (worried about not being able to maneuver the 27FB to the *one* pump at the station with Diesel).

Looking to get some info on what Towing MPG others are getting with the 5.0L Supercharged V8 and the 3.0L V6 Turbo Diesel, and what terrain they typically drive. I still have some time to change to the V8.

Thanks in advance,
Bryan

Welcome to the forums!

My experience has been that diesel fuel availability is not a problem.

At a truck stop, you will find that driving a diesel-fueled vehicle is an advantage, as you can go through the truck pumps, which have plenty of maneuvering room, and are typically diesel-only.

Towing a 27 with a Range Rover would give me pause, but that's a whole 'nother subject, and beyond the scope of this thread.

Wish I could offer specifics on the newer Rovers- my 110 has a 2.5 turbo diesel intercooled (15mpg with a 2k lb trailer, my 92 Range Rover has a 3.9 v8 (11 ish with tje Everest) and my LR3 is 4.4 v8 (12mpg with a 19' Bambi.) I have a customer with one of the first sport turbo diesels and he tows his collector Land Rovers often. I'll try to find out what sort of economy numbers.
I have no reservations about towing with any of my 3 Rovers!

Ive owned some of the nicest rovers. NAS 110s, 90's, MKIII's, LR3/4's, DI's, DII's, Classics, and the list could go on.

When I got the 25 foot airstream, I sold the nicest 09 LR3 i've ever owned and got an F250.
The 25 footer pushed the upper end of the tow capacity of the LR3 empty. When factoring water, clothes, food, any other gear, and my family of 4 ... it would have been irresponsible to the safety of my family to pull it with the land rover. (IMHO). Ironically, the interior of the F250 is as nice as any Range Rover I ever owned. (granted the newest big body rangie I ever owned was a 2014).

I can't speak for gas mileage on the diesel as I have never owned a diesel land rover with anything other than a 300 Tdi.

Good luck.
