How long is an airstream, really?

I have a 1969 "31 foot" Sovereign... in general (and specifically for mine) is that traditionally measured tongue to bumper, or is it the shell's length only?

Would be awesome if anyone knew the exact tip to tip measurement of this model as it is important for my storage situation.

Thanks!!!

(You might say "Why don't you go out and measure yours??" - which I would but I don't live where it lives... and I kinda need to know before I see it again...)

Published length is "bumper to ball", plus or minus several inches.

Hi, I don't have an answer for your trailer, but mine is listed as a 25'er; My trailer is 25' 11"s long. [tongue to bumper] Body is about 3' shorter.

Airstream is one of the few vendors that their model number implies the overall length. However, that breaks down in the real world. Here are the lengths per the 2014 catalog.

16 is 16' 4" for Sport
22FB is 21' 8" for Sport
19 is 19' 2"
20 is 20' 10"
23D is 23'
23FB is 23' 9"
25 models are 25' 11"
27FB is 28' for Flying Cloud and Internationals
27FB is 27' 9.5" for Classic
28 is 27' 11"
30 is 30' 11" for Flying Cloud and Internationals
30FB Bunk is 30' 10"
30 & 31 is 31' for Classic
