Grand Cherokee Towing

Hi Suzanne,
Can Am has set up two Jeep GCs for me. A 2008 and a 2014. First a 25 and now a 30. The 30 currently has about 300,000 k on it. I initially had a Hensley with the 30, but the Hensley broke several times and CanAm replaced it with an EzLift. Seems to work just the same. The setup is important and the Can Am guys do a good job. Sorry for not answering your quiry.

The 23cb is actually much bigger because it’s wider, has much more fresh water capacity and my favorite floor plan. Cons, it is close to my v8 grand cherokee towing limits.

The 22 Sport is decent in size and should be easily towed and 20k cheaper. Cons: the single axel scares me (if one of the two wheels fail, I’m possibly dead)

If I were you, I'd stick to a 19 footer or smaller with that tow vehicle. The 22 sport would probably be ok providing its not on the upper limit of your tow capacity. If so, I would advise not buying a 22 footer.

Don't believe the hype about single axle trailer sway. With proper loading its fine with a good E2 style hitch with built in sway control. It's worse to over load your tow vehicle than have a single axle.

Look at my profile picture. As you can see I can, if I wanted, have a much bigger camper. However I simply don't want to because the 19 footer is easier to tow. I've pulled that through 45MPH crosswinds in the rocky mountains. No problem.

Good luck.
