I am considering a 2011 Grand Cherokee V-6 as an occaisional tow vehicle for our 1967 A/S Overlander 27'. I'm thinking I will be maxed out as far as towing rating. I would like to hear from anybody who may have a similar rig.
Yes, the V6, although a great engine would be overloaded, as it has a 5000# tow rating. I have a 2012 V8 which is rated at 7400# and it would be within your trailer weight range. The Jeep GC is a short wheelbase (relatively) rig, and for a 27' some would say it would not be right. I don't know, I have only towed my shorter Argosy with the one I own.
The new 3.6L V6 is a very strong engine. This Jeep has a lot going for it as a TV. On paper your Jeep should be fine for your lightweight Airstream provided you get the appropriate connection hardware and adjustments.
