Four years ago when we purchased a 2012 Ford F-250 to tow our Airstream, the information on the forums indicated the integrated brake controller would not talk to the brakes, so we purchased a brake controller, had it installed and have had good success. We are currently looking to upgrade to a new F-250 with better seats and a crew cab. The question I have is does the integrated brake controller in later model F-250's work with the Airstream brakes (2008 31 foot classic - electric over hydraulic brakes).
Have the 2012 F250 and the brake controller worked just fine with the 05 25’ classic with electric over hydraulic brakes, regular electric brakes on the other trailers too.
Our 2011 F250's integrated brake controller works flawlessly with electric brakes. No other controller or adapter needed.
In fact the F250 brake controller and 7-pin connecter seem to be integrated with the towing mode of the truck's engine/tranny control software (e,g, engine braking and downshifting).
