I would say that that is too big of a trailer for the Expedition unless they have increased the towing capacity to that of the F-150. I am sure it would be ok in the flat lands but I think you are going to be stressing it. Does it have a tow package? I have the next size up (Excursion) and it pulls my 31 ft no problem.
I was just looking at motor comparisons. Expedition has a little more motor than a Suburban...from what I've seen. Maybe the Suburban has lower gearing. Looking at the combined weight, I see the Expedition won't be enough. Used (non rust bucket) 3/4 tons are hard to come by up here in the northeast. May have to buy out of state and ship. Anyone have a 250 or 2500 for sale cheap?

My expedition is only 400 pounds less towing capacity than my dads 3/4 ton suburban. It rides way better and the air suspension works great. Both are 4x4 don't know about 2wd.
I have a 2007 Expedition EL 4 x 4. I tow a 31' Sovereign & it tows beautifully. However, I've only traveled with it in the Midwest & haven't traversed any mountains. I intentionally bought the EL for the extra length of the wheelbase. It's my everyday vehicle, and it's my favorite ride I've ever had!
The newer models may have been beefed up a little. The EL was created as a replacement for the Excursion. I don't know what other improvements they have made since then.
I loved our Expedition, but I didn't love it as a tow vehicle. It may have been the shorter wheel base or not as strong suspension. We towed at the time a 30' Prowler. Perhaps a better weight system would have helped, but I wouldn't do it again personally.
