Equalizer Hitch

When we purchase our 2015 27FB FC the Airstream dealer offered and we bought a 4 pt weight distribution equalizer system - so far we have made 6 small / close to home trips with no problems. Like some feedback on the equalizer system? Not sure if this type of system is anti-sway also?

Thanks,

Glenn

I get the impression hat there are thousands of them on the roads, so must be something to them. As long as you are a satisfied customer that is all that really matters.

I have been very happy with mine. Even had to make a panic lane change maneuver with the setup. Trailer followed like it was designed to and not a single sway. They are difficult to setup initially and get correct but that just takes some time. Lots of hitch threads on the forum.

Yes it is anti sway and weight distributing. Both. It's all that bare metal sliding with friction across bare metal that inhibits sway.

Equalizer makes a less expensive hitch that does not have 4 point sway control, if you have the 4 point sway control you have a excellent product. The Equalizer 4 point sway control hitch costs in the $450 to $650 price range, if you paid $250 you have the lesser WD hitch. BTW, I'm very happy with mine!

I used Reese products for 40 years. Switched last year to Equalizer 4 point. Really like it, works great - 10,000 trip last summer and fall across country and back. Not one issue.

PSU1981 Glenn you may want to read the following thread.

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f464...ead-98886.html

It took me awhile to get through it all but there is lot of experience and knowledge of Equalizer in the thread. Note this thread started in 2021 and I believe that the Mf'r may have made some changes in the newer hitches.

I have no experience with setups other than Equalizer but our experience with our FC20/Highlander combo is very positive. IN fact in on our maiden voyage to San Diego we encountered extreme wind and rain in the Black Bear/Castle Crags section of I-5 in CA and all was stable and safe.

If the dealer set up your hitch you should still check it yourself per the instruction manual.
It took me a couple of hours to get mine set up but have been very happy with it for 5 years.
If you do have any questions the folks on the help line at the company are very knowledgeble and friendly.
