I'm going another direction since Audiovox did not return my question about it fitting in an f-250. I just bought a cheapo rearview monitor with backup camera that is wider than the Audiovox.

It looks like all these china tech mirrors are manufactured in the same plant with a few different specs. This one has the highest resolution and a camera that sticks out a little further to get around the mirror stalk in the Ford. At $119 it seems to have all the features I need from the Audiovox at a third the cost.

Be careful to compare specs on these. This one has night vision while many will only work in the dark if there are streetlights providing ambient light.

My primary use is for a rearview mirror. With the cap on the back of my truck, I cannot see out the existing mirror.

There is a $20 coupon you can click on to get a better price. My link may not show that now. Here is a link to the dash camera:

It's easy to use, easy to get the video off of it and it records everything an insurance adjustor or police will want to know about.

Make sure whatever you get is full HD too.

What aboout the Vantrue N2, sorry I did not include a link before so you can see it. Here: https://dashcamcar.com/vantrue-n2-pro/ , I have been asking around if it is a good product to buy. Also, about the AutoVox, how long have you used it?

I don't know anything about that one, but looking at the link, I don't think it would work for me. It appears that both cameras are mounted in a single device. Since I have a topper on my truck, the rear camera would be useless to me, even when not pulling the AS.

I am very happy with the auto-vox in all aspects but one. The rear camera is designed to mount behind the license plate. While it works, it is much too low for my taste. However, my ARE topper has the rear hatch so I can't mount it any higher. I would prefer a camera mounted about where you normally find the handle on a tailgate.

This thread is several years old but I was wondering what the latest is on dash cams. Any new technology, or brand, that you would recommend?

Thanks!

Limited experience

I have tried 2 inexpensive dash cam devices. I’ve been disappointed and right now I’m not ready to pull the trigger on >$100.00 dash cam. What I can tell you is look for the biggest screen you can get. It’s hard to read the menus on small screens. If there is a way to set up the camera with an app, that will be great. Be sure you understand the recording feature and if it will automatically erase and record over the oldest video. Again a small screen and scrolling through menus can be pretty challenging. If anyone was a good recommendation , I’m all ears

I have had a small Rove camera for several years. Works great and easy to use...

I have had 3 Garmins and they work flawlessly with frequent updates.
