CAT scale

On my way from VT to FL with my new FC 25 RBT I got brave and weighed my setup on a CAT scale. Not sure I positioned the TV and Trailer wheels correctly as I got weird numbers. Total way below max capacity but drive wheel way over. I have a load leveling hitch with no visible sag to rear of TV. TV looks perfectly level as does trailer. Did I have rear wheels of TV and front axle of trailer double axle on same scale. Seems I should have gad major sag if that much weight in rear axle. I was a bit anxious being in the way of commercial drivers so didnt check wheels just pulled up so I could read the number on the scale to input into CAT app on my phone.

STEER AXLE
3180 Ib
DRIVE AXLE
6540 Ib
Trailer axle
2700 Ib
• GROSS WEIGHT
12420 Ib

Not looking to start pros and cons of a specific TV but can’t understand weight results. Just me and a 100-150# stuff in truck with 38 gallons gas. No water on trailer and minimal stuff in it like carry on clothes.

yeah, something is off. Trailer axle is low and rear truck axle is high.....must have been on same pad.

Yeah, probably had front wheels of trailer on scale too. My older, lighter weight 25' carries 5700 lbs on the trailer axles. Yours would be heavier. Gross is probably correct.

Agree with previous posts. I weigh with TV connected with WDH on one scale, and the AS axles on the rear. Take one reading, then I disconnect the hitch, and weigh with front jack on one scale- "level", without tow vehicle on the scale. That gives me "actual" tongue weight and AS weight, together. Note, actual tongue weight on scale is 1100lbs; total AS GVW 7580lbs.

Do I dare post my CAT's again...

...no, I don't want to trigger any obtuse reactions

When I do weigh, I do 4 runs.
TV alone
Rig no WD
Rig max WD, lets me know how effective WD is, (bar condition.)
Rig with WD set.
YMMV

Proper Weighing Procedure

As Robert Cross suggests you have to do at least a 3 pass (4 pass better) weigh in to get an accurate picture of what is going on. Try weighing again following the recommended procedure.

I'm with uraljohn and Bob on this; at least 3 passes.

I arrive with WD engaged so that's my first weigh after topping off the fuel. Then pull off, disconnect WD and do another then pull off and drop the trailer. Weigh the truck alone last.

Also, measure your front and rear fender heights at each state. This is a good indicator of how much the WD is actually leveling your vehicle. Yes, the scale will provide the data but fender height shows what's happening to the suspension.

The photo below shows how your tow vehicle and trailer should be positioned on the three scale pads. Download the CAT app so you can do it all from your phone and get the results as a PDF.

It should be mentioned....If you are new to your rig you may need more than three runs to finally get it rite.
When we first got 'Cloudsplitter' it took us 5.
Once we got edgeamacated, CAT runs are only done now if we know the load is out of our thought process. .
We do have the Hensley WD jacks marked for our "normal".
