So people have been wondering about a solution for putting bikes inside the AS. We normally put them on the front bumper, but we heard this morning it was going to rain. So I had this set up and wanted to try it out.

1). Get 2 yoga mats to put down on the floor to protect the vinyl. They are just the right size for a typical bike.
2). Get 2 brackets for each bike; one for each wheel. I have a picture of them. They are called “Bike Hand” and you can get them on Amazon.
3). Put the brackets on the yoga mat, and put the bikes into the brackets so that the wheels are locked into place.
4). Put blankets around the bikes to make sure if they tip or move side to side they don’t scratch anything.

It worked great. Bikes road solid. Didn’t move. We road 2 hours at various speeds on even some fairly rough roads. The brackets and mats are very easy to store. And the total cost I is about $100 per bike. Works like a charm. Now we do have a 28’ so a shorter AS may be an issue. I think it would work for a 25’ though based upon my measurements; or if you had a twin bed set up.

I carry my bikes inside the Airstream on long trips and on the Jeep roof for short trips. I throw the good bike on the bed and just prop the other one against the front bench seat with an old sandal under the front forks. Neither bike has ever moved. Many trips across the country and down to Florida. Jim

Thanks for both posts. The wife and I are eyeing electric bikes so that will add some difficulty even with an F250 towing a FC27.

I just bought an electric bike and I'm going to put it in my van. I bought a mount that can be either bolted in or will stay in place with the carpet like mine. Essentially I have a quick disconnect on the front wheel so I'll roll the bike into the van, secure the front wheel fork with a special holder. There is another holder which the wheel will slip into. I set it up to hold two bikes. Here's a picture of it close to the rear door of the van. I will be pulling out the rear most seat to accommodate the length of the bikes.

Bikes will sit on the left and the wheels will sit on the right in their holders. Of course all the tool boxes and other stuff will be back behind the bikes towards the front of the van.

we have two turn s10 folding ebikes. we got them 4 weeks ago. the are SUPPER!
we currently store them inside while traveling

we remove the table top and the two folded bikes fit in the 22fb lounge area with the cushions removed, kneeling pad between them and two bungee chords to keep them from moving

over the winter, i will make a stand to hold the bike between the propane tanks and the as body

we store the batter and seat under the lounge area
