Now my BRAKES work better!

However, when I connect it to my TV (2012 Chebby 2500 HD) there is almost NO pressure resistance. When I connect other plugs there is higher resistance to SEAT.

I vote "replace". What is your advice?

BTW I bent the connector terminals closer together. Not they spring open again with a couple cycles. Sounds like they may have heated and loss tension?

Thanks in advance.

Should I replace the end or whole cable assembly?

Try replacing the end first.

I would vote for a new cable as sometimes replacing the plug itself becomes an exercise in frustration to get the wires all connected inside the plug shell. It certainly can be done, but depending on your electrical experience, and frustration tolerance it might be easier to use the molded on end with replacement cord. The molded ones, stored face down, also don't get water in them as easily. The clamp on plugs generally leak where the wire goes into the plug and are difficult to make water tight.

Whatever you do, be sure that the contacts in your new plug or cord are brass. In the past few years it is common to find cheap silver color plated contacts (not silver, only silver color) in the plugs you purchase. You may need to look a bit, but brass only for the contacts. That also goes if you are replacing the TV end outlet.

I would replace the end. Fishing a new complete umbilical can be an exercise in frustration.

Someone recently posted an external junction box that allows a shorter molded cord to be attached to the old cord all nice and sealed looking. Advantage is accessible junction and connections plus molded plug end. I'm still learning is iPad and not too good at searching and copying stuff.

Junction boxes are available in various sizes. Look for a trailer ( as in tractor/trailer) supply house. They will carry the 7 or 9 wire cables the boxes and all the other stuff you might need. Not a bad job at all. I put mine in an out of the way spot on the inside rail of the A-frame.

I installed a junction box behind the a-frame next to the spare tire. It is nice to get the wire terminations out from between the front walls and to a point where the umbillical cord can be changed in the future if needed or if some electrical troubleshooting needs to be done. The boxes are fairly cheap.

crispyboy,

I think this approach has a lot of merit. I really didn't find a real strong repair plug canidate, looked at MANY brands all were a bit disappointing as far as sealing and construction.

Interestingly enough when I terminated the wires for the junction box last fall I noticed that the wire insulation would crack very easy. I was surprised because where the wire cracked was where the original Bargman umbilical cord (1994) was protected between the walls. Externally the cord looks good. As preventative maintenance a new cord is on my "to do" list.
