Toy box TV

I tow my 2015,19 International Serenity Bambi with a 2015, FWD, 3.0 liter, 4 cylinder EcoDiesel Ram 1500 Promaster Cargo van. I use a WD hitch without any anti-sway devices. Without the WD hitch the deminished front wheel traction would be dangerous.

We have a 19' Bambi and started out, two years, with a Toyota Highlander fitted with a Blue Ox hitch system. The TV was OK but a bit marginal in our Cascade mountain travel so the past two years we have had a Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCab with 6.5' bed, the 2.7 Ecoboost and the max tow package, and the "old" Blue Ox. It has been great ! 5,000 miles last year and 1,500 so far this year with complete satisfaction - plenty of power, reasonable MPG, superb handling, far more room for storage/hauling plus it is fun to drive. The only "liability" when compared to the Highlander is the longer wheelbase makes parking, especially backing up, a bit more difficult.

I tow my 2006 16' Quiksilver Bambi with a 2006 Jeep Liberty Diesel and an Equalizer hitch. Been towing that combo since 2008 when I bought both. Now have 130,000 miles on the Jeep and still running great.

I tow our 19' Bambi with a Ford F350 crew cab. I carry two spare tires, generator, tons of camping gear, luggage etc, all in the bed of the truck with payload to spare. It's a little on the big side but the more I drive it the more I like having size and weight on my side in Detroit area traffic.

I have a WD hitch and sway control left over from my old Grand Cherokee tow vehicle but generally use only the sway control. I doubt the small amount of weight shift from the tongue weight affects the large truck, but have an appointment to get it weighed and set up just to be sure.

I also just bought the 16" Michelins and new wheels to get the higher weight rating of the 80psi tires. I had previously upgraded from the 15" GYM to Michelins but want a greater margin on the weight rating.

Equal-i-zer WD/Sway Control Hitch

Sway control -for me - is a must if I travel at 65mph. Also, with the WD hitch, the TV/TT combo is a more solid ride.

I tow a 20' Argosy with a 2014 Tacoma that I bought with tow and TRD packages. I don't use (or need) either sway bar or WDH. I believe any later model p-u or suv is going to have factory stability control which obviates the need for a sway control bar. Further, the Tacoma and trailer ride level without any excessive weight on the axles. However, I added air bags to restore the Tacoma's slight forward rake and get the low beam lights pointed back down further.

Over past 3 years I've towed thousands of miles on all kinds of roads (plus a couple of "not" roads) and all kinds of conditions except snow and tornadoes. I've never felt the slightest need for additional towing equipment and no one will convince me with any argument or scare tactic that sway and WDH are necessary for a small trailer towed by a capable TV.

To the contrary, if you decide to add a sway bar or WDH, be absolutely sure you get it set up correctly and use it properly as it can create serious and potentially dangerous problems if set up poorly. Personally, I don't think the trade-offs are justified with a small trailer, but that is a decision only you can make for your own set of circumstances.

To get this stated ...

Bambi 16' (2016 model)
2004 Chevy Sububan
No weight-distributing hitch
2016 Bambi Sport
TV: 2017 Ram 1500, Laramie, with 5.7L Hemi
Weight distribution hitch.

Have not yet towed with the new Ram. Previous TV was a Ford 250 with the 6.7L Turbo Diesel. (Overkill for sure). Anticipate no difficulties towing the 16" Sport with the new Ram 1500.

We tow our 2014 20FC Bambi with a Toyota Highlander with a jet pack chip, Equalizer WD hitch. I recently upgraded the shoes/Rims on the TV from a Toyo 245/55/19 103S to 165/55/19 107H Mich Def's (OEM approved).

Planning on the TT being re-shoed to Nokian Rotiiva AT All Season LT235/75R15 116/113 S (up to 112 mph, max load 2760 lb). Plan be being the new GYE's.

Tows straight and true and we've been thru some high wind areas of late.

adds a bit of HP & torque. There weren't a lot of options for the highlander package but I understand that there are many (adjustable) options for other two vehicles.
