2006 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7L Hemi
All lights have been converted to LEDs (headlightrevolution.com)
Pioneer AVIC-W8500NEX navigation computer
Rocktamers with the "Airstream" (from the airstream store.)
Oldtown 17' Penobscot Canoe
Thule roof rack
2 Pedago Platinum Interceptor E-bikes
Thule Folding Wing hitch bike carrier in the back of the truck (for carying bikes when at camp)
Homemade Fiamma style bike rack on the rear to hold 100lbs of bike.
The whole rig comes in at 17205 lbs, 30' Classic is 9640 lbs with 920lbs tongue weight.
The only thing missing in this photo is the two Pedago E-bikes hanging off of the rear of the 30' classic.
A side benefit of the PP is that there is enough clearance between the trailer and the truck to fully open the large hatch to access the contents of the ARE topper. Without that, I can only access through the walk-in door because the hatch hits the trailer jack. In the configuration shown, there isn't any access problems at all.
The truck also has aftermarket air suspension. To set the system up, I leveled the trailer and set the hitch height for the trailer coupler. The manual shows setting it up for the typical loading sag, but with the auto-leveling air bags, there is no sag. What you measure is what you get. I also measured the top of the front fender to the ground (34.5"). I then hook the trailer up, let the auto-leveler raise the back end back up and then crank the hitch jacks until the front fender is back to 34.5". Cat scales show that using that method puts the front axle weight back to within 100lbs of what the truck runs with normally.
Driving it is a dream. It's like running on rails with no major movement unless I want it to move. You have to be careful though. It drives so well, the temptation is to relax and drive one handed (caught my wife with only a thumb and two fingers on the steering wheel this last trip.)
Glad I spent the money on the hitch.
The next project is a 3" lift kit for the TT because there isn't enough clearance on the rear to get into most gas stations around here.
