8 Connections for a 7 Pin HELP!
We've added some back up lights to our 1964 Bambi II. The original wiring for the trailer plug includes:
Marker
Brake Light
L Turn
R Turn
Charge Line
Brake
Ground
How do I work in the reverse?

Left turn and right turn are the same as the brake light, no separate wire needed. Do you have a plug installed on your tow vehicle? If so, you can determine which pin does what and wire the cable to the trailer the same.

What's the deal with three wires coming out of each tail light then?

One could be a ground. How many bulbs are there? One should have two filaments. Have someone turn on the turn signals on the tow vehicle and then step on the brakes, you will see that on the turn signal side there is no brake light. If you turn on the parking lights and then the brakes it has the same brightness as the turn signal.
Unless you have a tow vehicle which has the turn signal separate from the brake lights, most european vehicles, then you need a electronic adaptor box to convert the separate signals to one for the trailer.

i don't think that's right. the right signal would flash both sides wouldn't it?

Nope, only the brake signal sends current to both sides. The turn signal switch only sends current to one side.
