Does anyone else find it annoying that you need to order a vehicle and hope and pray you get a "good" payload number? Seems almost like a lottery where you don't know if you are a winner until you first open the door of your new truck.

Very annoying. They should be able to give you a ballpark estimate. Doesn’t have to be spot on. Had I not ordered the 10000# GVWR option on my F-250 I would have been very disappointed. But 2895# on the door and 3010# at the scale IIRC (with a full tank of gas). I can’t explain the extra except maybe margin of error of the scale.

This is the most expensive vehicle I have ever purchased. I used Costco buying service and got just over 10% off msrp.
I special ordered mine, placed the order in late August 21 and it was delivered in early December, so roughly 4 months.

FYI, I got the 2021 F-150 Powerboost Full Hybrid, which includes that amazing Pro Power on board with 7.2 KW.

Follow up: My F150 was built one week ahead of schedule, and shipped about two weeks ago. Should arrive on time, end of April.

We ended up getting the 2kw pro power. Didn't intend on getting it but the dealer gave us a good price on it. It was an impulse buy like a candy bar at the checkout counter.
The 2kw is not going to do that much but we can make toast if we need to!

I added a 45w converter up front. I plug that into my 2k pro-power to charge @45amps while driving.

Once it is built the next thing is getting it delivered. My 2020 sat for a month before being delivered. So be prepared.

The F150 forum had a thread running that asked folks to post their paylload combined with detailed list of options and trim level. The OP created a spreadsheet that made it fairly easy to get a pretty clear idea on what payload could be expected. I'm not sure if it is still being maintained, last time I looked it had several hundred trucks covering a number of model years. So a pretty good idea can be generated.

For the OP, I originally went in and ordered a truck in March of 2021, my lease was up in September. I wanted the active damping option, so the order wasn't actually submitted until after Job 2 which I think was in June, order system wouldn't accept the order until then. Truck was converted to a 2022 and finally built first week of March this year and delivered 2 weeks later. Truck is a Platinum 3.5 EB, short bed, 4x4. No moon roof, high option set with max tow and 2k power boost. Payload is 1525 lbs, which is enough for us and is 100 lbs higher than the 2018 model I had previously and which was 4 wheel weighed by RVSF. On that truck and fully ready for camping, we were comfortably under all of my rigs weight limits.

Geez. Sorry about that.
I have to say I hate that I'm logging mileage and sucking up gas waiting for our FC but I'm glad that we'll have the TV when we will need it.

DogMom, what mpg are you getting with your F150 city/hiway. That is the truck I wanted before I went F250. Is the ride rough with that suspension?

Ordered 11/16/2021 - No truck no VIN no build date. All I see in the lots are xl, xlt and a few Lariates. Should I just order a 2023 now?

If I put it in Eco mode then I get about 20 miles Tom the gallon. Most of my driving is in town or 2 lane rural road driving back and forth to work. Almost no interstate daily driving.
I find it a pretty smooth ride. But I'm used to a Subaru Crosstrek and then prior to that a Honda Element, so no luxury vehicle experience. Unless you count an inherited Cadillac land yacht complete with fins. Now that was a smooth driving car.

At some point (very soon) Ford will stop producing 2022 trucks, update the assembly line, and start producing 2023 models so your order will be converted to a 2023 model. There shouldn't be a need to cancel the 2022 and place a 2023 order, which would cause you to lose you place in line.

The ford gods

The ford gods must have been listening! I now am able to see my window sticker on fords website. That is supposed to happen when you are 7 days from your build date or so the story goes. I may go camping this year!

I never thought I would be this happy to spend so much money!

Ford Gods

So when you made your order there was a msrp pice associated with that order. Now that you can see the sticker price are they the same or different?

Costco

I used Costco car buying service. The only dealer that would honor the price is a few hours from my home. The discount is about 15% below msrp. In my case that was $8500 under msrp. The dealers close to me were all talking msrp to msrp plus. You think I will ever give the local dealer my business? Me either. Not even for an oil change even if it’s free.

Thats decent too. My 2015 has 2050LB. It's not much more than 7 years ago trucks which, then, makes it kind of sad, too. Especially when you consider what it costs, right now.

Would I take the 400+ ? Absolutely. Happy trails. ( just not at what it costs )
