Alex, you have perhaps the most reliable Airstream tires on the market, your chance of sudden failure (blowout) is zero. Even if you have a TPMS and a sudden failure (blowout) there is a good chance the trailer will receive considerable damage anyway.

We decided to spend our money on more useful things than trailer TPMS. For the tow vehicle, it's a different story and a good accessory.

So there are no nails or screws or debris on any of the roads you travel on dkottum?

These do not cause a catastrophic blowout.Without TPMS on your trailer you will never know that a tire has gone down.That is why we all carry a spare.

Or get a bit of grit in the valve when you check the tire pressure, lots of reasons you can get a slow lead that leads to big problems.

All great questions and answers here. I just bought a 2017 Super Duty although I have not taken delivery as yet. The TPMS seems like it might be an easy install but a previous poster mentioned that it does not work on steel belted tires. That does not make much sense since almost all tires today are steel belted.

The camera is another issue. I also do not want a heavy cable draped over and around my trailer. Might be a job for the right AS dealer or mounting it low above the bumper might work.

Both systems sound great if they work. Following this threat very closely.

As mentioned in several other threads on this topic, the issue with steel tires are designs with steel in the sidewalls of the tire in addition to the tread area. Effectively they are "steel all over". I have yet to see anybody come up with an example of an Airstream sized tire that is made that way. Certainly none of the standard tires people use are constructed by that technique. (It's expensive ....)

The answer to a previous post is the cost is about $750.00US. Not including installation. An entirely new plug comes with the kit that will replace the original factory plug on the back of your pick up. Cables, camera and plugs come with the kit.

Ford notes that there may be issues if you install in steel CARCASS tires. No issue on steel belted tires.

There are a number of manufacturers of steel carcass LT tires. I have seen a number of posts where the people are dumping their ST tires for LTs.

Here is a statement on one of the Michelin tires:
The XPS Traction all-season tire is an off-road, retreadable commercial light truck tire. It provides good off-road traction thanks to an aggressive tread design. Anti-chip compounds help provide off-road traction on gravel and rocky terrain.
The steel casing offers long wear life and puncture resistance. The steel casing also allows retreading to greatly extend the life of the tire and keep it on the job. It is available in two sizes, LT215/85R16 and LT235/85R16, both load range E.

Sorry for the delay, was out of town and away from my laptop for a week.

Yes, he riveted the camera bracket to the aluminum bracket he fabricated, which is screwed to the license plate frame. Its simple and works great.

I'll post some more pics.

Now I have had this setup for a while, I will say the Ford camera is pretty much redundant if you already have an AS camera mounted up high. My AR camera is pointed down the road but still gives a very good view of the ground for backing up, plus it has sound so I can still yell at the wife standing back there (unfortunately that works both ways).
The Ford camera requires toggling between views on the dash, which I don't bother with most of the time, whereas the AS camera is always on and it works very well.
If I was doing it again I wouldn't bother ordering it.

Thanks for your post, abone. Since our new Classic will come standard with the Voyager backup camera I think you may have saved me the $225 difference between the Ford combo camera/TPMS kit and the Ford TPMS stand-alone.

Yep, I don't really see the need for it, having had it for a couple months now.

Off topic, see you are going to the 30'....we've been thinking the same. More room or different layout? What is your reason?
I have no issues with towing a bigger trailer...with this new Super Duty, I forget the trailer is behind me. We would however like more room in the lounge area.

More room and a different layout. Having the separate dinette and lounge area is nice and the 30 footer will let us and the dog spread out a little more. The added storage is also a plus as is the larger fresh water tank.

Honestly, we were attracted to the Classic from the beginning and my wife loved the upscale appointments but we had concerns about having enough space to store one at our house and even whether we could get it up our driveway. Turned out we had to redo our driveway anyway for the 25 footer and parking ended up being less of a problem than we anticipated.

We could have waited a couple of years but we were offered a good trade in on the FC and price on the new trailer so we decided what the heck; life is short....

You will love the Classic. I like the seperation. I added a work table behind the dinette and in front of the sofa so now I have a little work space.

With regard to the Ford TPMS here at the park I am staying at they have a maintenance shop. The fellow there is quite handy and he installed the sensors on the wheels. Kind of a delicate job. He told me that these internal sensors are becoming more common but you should inform your tire guy that you have them for they would be easy to break when fixing a flat. I have not run the cabling as yet so still don't know if they actually work.

Hi

I believe the TPMs only comes as a package with the camera (about $700). You likely can order individual sensors and the connection box. My guess would be that they cost more piecemeal than the price of the full kit. That's always been the case whenever I've tried to break things up in the past.

I have a 2017 Ford F350 Super Duty, and would like to add TPMS to my trailer tires. Does anyone have a recommended TPMS system that the integrated Ford monitor will read?
