Jim,
I bought OEM knockoff cross bars which installed easily and have worked just fine.

I'll mention the towing mirrors as well. Denis 4x4 on this forum showed me these that he had bought elsewhere, and I bought them via Amazon. They do vibrate just a bit, but it's no problem and they really provide a good view.

JamuJoe, Thank you for the information. I have the mirrors and will get the racks. You have been a real help by blazing the GC trail. I just do what you do and it works out beautifully. I should have asked before and I hope you don't mind, what is the make and model of your cargo carrier? Jim

Seeing the new GC's recently and not particularly caring for the design either way (just kinda came and went...a bit indistinguished) I have got to say that the silver GC with the Airstream looks GREAT! Talk about a great, great visual match! Perfect size trailer for the tow vehicle, and the carrier on top actually makes it look BETTER! And, it probably helps a tad with wind resistance...

So the total miles and total gallons consumed resulted in an average mpg of? Was travel speed consistent? Approximate length of combined rig is? And combined weight is about?

Great looking!!

The miles-per-gallon results being reported by JamuJoe's onboard computer imply his rig is achieving efficiencies equivalent to the current diesel Sprinter Class B. And the combo has to outweigh the Sprinter by a half-ton or more.

That is great!

2014 Grand Cherokee Eco Diesel

Right, it is a FC23FB. 5683 lbs wet. I was very pleased with the performance of the GC on this 1830 mile tow. The daily legs varied between 16.6 and 20.0 mpg depending upon conditions. Cruise set to 65 on the interstates and 60 on two lane highways. Very smooth and steady with the Equalizer. We look forward to many more trips with this rig. Now it's time to store the Airstream and shift to our sailboat for a few months. Ya'll travel safely!

Dewinterizing before my trip to Fort Lauderdale. Everything worked this year but the road salt left over from Christmas really makes a mess. Tomorrow I will shine it up and be good to go. JamuJoe, we once again are having the same TV and I am astounded by the competence of the Diesel GC. I will take some photos once we get to green. Jim

Beautiful! We have to take our 2014 JGC Diesel to the dealer on Monday to have the brake controller installed. Our AS mechanic wasn't sure how to do it on the new Jeep. Even our Jeep dealer said they will have to call their tech support because they haven't done one yet. LOL. Hoping they can get it done because we've scheduled our first trip next weekend.

The 2014 Jeep GC with the tow package comes with a harness ( found loose in the glove compartment) that hooks on to a brake controller with owner supplied butt connectors. You then plug this into a little grey connector that is located on the bulkhead up by the emergency brake. Takes about one minute. I attached this stuff to the dash above the gas cap opener button with some Velcro. I will disconnect it during our 11 months of winter. Your dealer scares me. Jim

Omg it is so simple. Find the pigtail in the glovebox it's in a bag. Splice the brake controler to it. It's four wires. Find the plug behind the left panel and plug it in.

Thanks guys!! I know I should have thrown a question up in here before even going to my mechanic. I'm have no mechanical aptitude whatsoever, but I can ask questions and I'm learning more and more from here. What about the isolator? The paperwork with the harness said one is not included. Is that true with the tow package?

I hooked up my stuff last night and it all works perfectly. I do not what an isolator is. ( other than a very mean grade 5 teacher) I use a Prodigy P2 controller and it came with a harness that you connect to the JC harness. (Butt connectors) Jim
