'11 Land Cruiser TV experience/recommendations

I have a LX570 as well and am looking for a airstream to go along with it. I'm looking for a 25-28ft model. Preferrable before the wide bodies, for the 8ft more streamlined width.

Having towed with my previous '06 LX470 and a 23d.... it was an incredibly balanced setup. No sway to speak of. And with the '06 VVTi motor, plenty enough power. All that was needed was a lightweight Anderson no-sway hitch to make it all work. And some clip on side view mirrors.

While I have yet to pair a larger AS with my now LX570, I'm sure it can be made to work equally well with the right setup and configuration.

The 200-series Land Cruiser/LC570 are brutes. Relatively shorter wheelbase but wide stance. Suspension is on the softer side for off-road articulation. May need/want airbags.

Range may seem more limited then it actually is as the gauge is ultraconservative. Not that I do this, but people on the LC forums regularly go 30-40 miles beyond "empty" or 0 range left.

Now that I have acquired an '07 27FB CCD and towed it with my LX570, I am happy to report that she towed great!

This is with an Equilizer 4pt hitch. I believe the WD/sway setup is key to a successful tow. As the LC/LX has a relatively short wheelbase and not to short overhang. But it makes up for this by a wide track and substantial curb weight (6150 for the LX)

My LX is on 33" AT LT load range E tires. Readout on mpg display was 10.5 which translates to ~11.1mpg with the larger tires. I think I can do better still as I need more drop in my hitch and the AS is riding a bit nose high.

Hi Hawaiikai,

I tow a 27FB with my 2009 LX570. She tows exceedingly well after 10k miles in mixed towing through windy stretches, switchback mountain 2-lane roads, and long steep mountain climbs and descents. I personally would not choose to tow with anything else at the moment. Excellent stability, maneuverability, with unbeatable comfort.

Key to the setup:
1) Keep tow ball as close to the rear bumper as possible. Shortening the drop shank may be necessary to pull it in even tighter. This is absolutely key to optimize on account of the relatively shorter wheelbase.
2) Use a good weight distribution/anti-sway hitch. I personally use an Equalizer. Make sure that there is enough weight distribution tension dialed in. If you feel the steering is light or there is sway, dial in more weight distribution.
3) I personally use load range E LT tires, more because I off-road. The LX570 20" wheels/tires will be fine and great for lateral stability. LC owners with 18" wheels may want to step up to LT tires.





My favorite part of this tow vehicle is being able to visit technical and remote trails once at destinations.

To answer your brake controller question. I personally use a Tekonsha P3. Though there are many options out there including a nice compact RedArc controller.
