What is 2000 Safari 25 worth?

I came across a 2000 Safari 25 at a local dealership yesterday. It was in fine condition. They wanted $28,000 for it, which seemed a bit high to me.

The NADA guide I looked at my local library says it is worth about $20,000 if sold at retail.

How close are the prices listed in the NADA guide to the real world?

From what I've seen advertised, the Low Retail to Average Retail range seems to be about right for late models. Obviously, since the "Average" is a mean, many go for more than that. But I'd think more than about $23K is probably too much for this trailer in mint condition.

Keep in mind it's getting close to time for new tires on it if it has the originals, regardless of how much mileage they have on them..

IIRC, this was the year Airstream switched to clearcoating from Alcoa mid-year, and some produced earlier in the year had the older clearcoat that would peel. Maybe that was 1999 though.

I'm thinking this is a really old post, but we just recently purchased a 25 foot Safari for $24,000. (Summer 2015) However, this Airstream was in excellent condition and had many updates completed including all new tires, brakes, flooring, deep stainless steel kitchen sink, faucets in kitchen/bath, pull-out couch recovered, new pull down valances on all windows (no ugly curtains!) new microwave, two new flat screen tvs, new stereo system, and no serious exterior dings. We converted the back twin beds into one large queen bed. After looking for many months we think we got a reasonable deal on this beautiful Airstream.
