Toilet room

2004 28' Safari SO (slide out). The normal siting position on the toilet does not allow enough knee room. Sit side ways and knees don't hit cabnet but no comfort. As yet to turn the bowl to increase comfort but still not much knee room. Was told to just leave the door open, still no comfort. Thinking about altering the cabnet to allow more knee room. Any help?

I feel your.....knee pain? I had the same problem, and solved it by going to a Dometic (Sea/Land) Traveler Lite toilet, model 210. They're constructed in such a way that the "base" portion (which bolts to the floor), is attached to the bowl with a huge band clamp, which tightens via a worm gear (similar to automotive hose clamps). That allows you to offset the bowl a few degrees left or right of center, relative to the base. That may give you just enough room on the vanity side, but you may still have to crack the door....(I still do, but that's O.K., Airstreams are worth it!) Also, the base portion is made of black plastic, so it's less disgusting whenever anyone happens to glance down there when flushing. And, it'll accept a standard residential seat. The things I don't like about it are 1), the seals between the flush ball and the bowl have to be cleaned quite frequently, or it won't hold water (they even include a little thingy that looks like a tongue depressor to assist you...how thoughtful!), and 2), the bowl "coverage" they brag about is, in reality, pathetic. So it's far from perfect, but it beats the Thetford "Aqua Torture Five" that the factory usually imposes on us.
