The 2001 Safari (27-B) has two TV antenna connections: one over the microwave cabinet with a signal booster button; the other in the bedroom without the booster. I get great reception using the front outlet with the booster; but when I take the TV to the bedroom and plug in there, I get no signal (whether or not the booster circuit in the front is turned on or off. Shouldn't the signal from the antenna be available at both locations? Or is the bedroom connection only good when cable TV is attached to the connection in the rear bumper?

Lew,
That's a good question that I don't have an answer for at this time. We haven't used the bedroom connection at this point. I can only remember my old SOB trailer which had a separate outlet in the bedroom. If I remember correctly I thought the amp powered both connections.

Next time I get the Safari home (probably in the next 2 weeks or so) I'll check this out.

Lew,
I just heard from a 2003 Safari owner and her rear outlet gets an amplified signal when the front antenna amp is on. I'll check my 2001 out next week when its home.

I checked out the rear TV outlet in my Safari and the booster in the front does drive the rear outlet.

Obviously you do have a problem.

The dealer (Parkview RV, Delaware) checked it out and concluded that the cable running from the front (lounge) outlet to the rear (bedroom outlet) is bad. Now the problem is, how to replace it! To route a new cable in the walls would require removing and replacing most of the interior wall and ceiling panels...a job nobody wants to do. The dealer will confer with the factory on a solution. My bet is they will run the new cable outside the trailer under the flooring and come back inside the trailer at the bedroom wall where the rear jack is mounted. This probably won't be done until after the summer. I'll let you know what was done at that time.

Youch!

Not sure how they will do this since they still have to join the cable at the front and rear outlets. It would seem that traversing the wire up from the floor to each outlet would still be a bear since there are horizontal ribs to clear. I wonder whether they could pull the old cable out possibly tieing it to a pull wire.

Sounds like they don't check that cable for continuity. Keep us posted on this one Lew.

Use the old cable to pull the new cable through! A carefull splice with no "bump" and it should work.

Progress report: the trailer is at Parkview RV Center in Delaware where they are working on replacing the TV cable now. Parkview's technician has been in touch with Airstream to solve this problem. Their solution appears to be to run a new cable outside, under the trailer, and come up through the wall at the rear cable outlet box. Pulling a new cable using the old cable will probably not work because the old cable is probably attached to the frame at points along its route. But thanks for the suggestion. I will post a "results" thread when the job is done.

Just wanted to share this info. Sounds like it's the same thing I was told this past summer. While I was at the factory having some work done, I inquired abt having the satellite dish installed.
Here's a list of reasons why it didn't happen~!
1. The frame wasn't strong enough to support the dish.(long term flexing action while mobile.)
2. Inquired abt the newer 'bat wing' TV ant., and was told that it could be installed, but the cable would have to come in thru the refrig vent opening. YUCK..
The reason for that was as stated in a previous post. The current TV cable is tied down to the ribs in the overhead. Not able to attach the new cable, and just pull it thru using the old cable.
I even asked abt a "skylight" in the hallway between the bedroom, and the closet area.(where it's darker during the day)
The word was that, the spacing between my overhead ribs wasn't wide enough for the skylight that A/S currently stock. They no longer stocked the older style that could.
It seemed that everything I asked for, there was a road-block~!!
I was able to get the Fantastic Fans installed. Let it go at that..lmao
Just thought you'd like to know.

Good news. Working with Airstream techs by phone, Parkview RV was told to remove the rear wall electrical outlet box and pull out as much of the TV antenna cable as possible. When they did this, they discovered that the Airstream factory had neglected to connect the splice the feeds signal to the bedroom antenna outlet! Another example of faultering quality control in Jackson Center! Parkview connected the splice and all works fine now. Problem solved.
