Overhead cabinet closing device

We are having trouble figuring out how these little closure mechanisms work. We have three that are not functioning. Does anyone have experience with these little doodads, and maybe most importantly, a suggestion for what we could use to replace them?

The forum site seems to be having a problem accepting a photograph at this point so I’ll post this anyway hoping that someone will know the kind of closure we have on a 2000 safari 25 footer.

When our supports of that type stop working correctly, I spray silicone lubricant spray into them and work them up and down a few times and they return to normal functioning.
