Who would like a ‘Like’ feature in posts?

How many members would be in favor of a way for the community to use a simple ‘Like’ ‘Smile’ etc feature similar to Facebook. It would be a way for people to weighs in without a lengthy post.

I would not be in favor but I'm also not a FB user.

I like a lot of posts without publicly acknowledging it. I can post post without needing feedback and still know that folks read it and approved or maybe liked it.

If there is a like button will there also be a dislike button. If a poster never gets liked will that affect their posting habits.

What would that do to the sites logistics or storage capacity.

I don’t care either way. I’m also not a Facebook user, so this isn’t really something I care about. I use the thank button a fair amount.

If people want it then I’m fine with it, but I’m also fine without it.

I belong to an automotive forum and this feature was added a few years ago. People seem to be happy with it.

This is not Facebook.

Not trying to oversimplify, but there's a reason I'm here discussing Airstream rather than over there on FB. I post because I think I've got something to contribute to the conversation, and if I find another member's post to be particularly helpful I'll send them a 'thank you' by clicking the button on their post and including a brief note. Seems a much more personal way to do this than a generic like/dislike count.

I find the existing "Thanks" feature virtually useless.

If I 'Thank" a post, there is no obvious result, for me. I don't get any feedback, in terms of visible effect, i.e. the "Thanks" are not displayed next to the post that I "thank", like virtually every other vBulletin-based or VerticalScope-owned online discussion site. As a result, I very rarely use the "Thanks" feature here.

If I receive a "Thanks" on a post, there is also no obvious feedback, to me. I don't get a pop up, or any notification that I know of. I have to go search out and find the "thanks" page, and see who has done so. I've only done this a few times, and generally don't go seek this page out. I've gone months and months without looking at it.

Because of the above, the existing "Thanks" feature here on Airforums is pretty much worthless, in my view.

If I were King, I would add a "Thank" count to the site software when it renders posts in a thread, so that any "Thanks" are translated to a numeric metric, displayed at all times, next to each post. I would also add a feature to notify the member when they were thanked, to include a hot-link to their own "Thanks" page.

I fixed one of my questions, so wanted to post back. I updated my "options" to enable notification of "Thanks", so one of the above was addressed by existing software capability I wasn't using properly.

I vote for likes. How does one add a poll voting machine in a post?

If you click on “User CP”, you see all of the Thanks you have received, any comments the person who thanked you made, and can then click on it to see exactly which of your posts has been thanked.

Some seem to need a public tally, others do not.

Our current software doesn't support a simple facebook style "like" option.

How about a "I read the OPs question and will answer that question and not some other one" affirmation button

Can we just use a [emoji90] as the dislike emoji?

Rather than a 'like' button, I'd like to see a 'solution' or 'solved' tag that can be added to posts which contain the solution to a problem or question. Would help when scrolling through long posts trying to find where the actual problem was solved or question answered.

I'm not concerned with how many others liked/disliked the post, just that it solved the problem or accuratly answered the question.
