Who would like a ‘Like’ feature in posts?

Not a unique feature to FaceBook, many sites have a feature that you can comment a feeling / one touch comment easily.

This is true and an easy tool to use for affirmation - still; the software doesn't support this .

Seems like the "Thanks" button could be modified enough to provide a click "Agree or Disagree" with user or anonymous status in the posted box. Naturally further comments would go on the Reply button as it is now.

I'm not concerned with how many others liked/disliked the post, just that it solved the problem or accuratly answered the question.

Apple does the "fixed" thing on their forums which I think is the "answered" label. The problem is that many of the alleged answers are not really answers.

Why does this site or any site need a "LIKE" button? Are the egos here so fragile that we cannot go a day with positive afirmation? I no longer go on Facebook because 50% of the posts are from peolpe looking for someone to blow smoke up their a$$, 40% of the post are the smoke blowers.

Several of the technical forums I am part of treat it sort of like a ticketing system. The OP can select the reply that best fits their question as the “solution” and that reply is moved up to be directly under the OP. They also have “kudos” which are a sort of “like”.

The solution is really nice when there are several hundred replies and you don’t want to read through the fluff. You also supposedly know when there is a question that you might have the answer for (though the system is voluntary and some OPs never select a solution. Mods can also select a solution if necessary. )

I kind of lean towards it being a good thing for folks who follow a forum and learn who they tend to trust. So if there are conflicting opinions and one gets many likes or thumbs up from folks you trust, then you might give more weight to that. Also when you want to acknowledge a helpful post without actually wasting space to respond might also be good. Whatever. Personally I don't use any social media FWIW, assuming this does not count.
