Settle This Dispute

A friend and I were talking about trailer wear and tear around a lovely fire, aided by some Appleton Estate dark rum (which I believe is how all of the world’s most serious questions should be tackled). After a lengthy discussion, we agreed that neither of us had a fact-based answer, and decided that Airforums was the ideal place to settle this. The following poll is based upon this partially hypothetical scenario. Both vehicles are annually serviced by an AS dealer.

Driver/Trailer A takes his Bambi twice a year on a 5000 mile cross-country round trip which takes 20 days. He racks up 500 mile days (10 hour days at 50mph avg) to reach the other coast in 5 days, spends 10 days stationary, and then does 500 mile days to get home. 6 months later, rinse and repeat.

Driver/Trailer B takes his identical Bambi on the same trip twice per year. However, he takes 10 days to get there (5 hours a day at 50mph avg), dips his toe in the ocean, and then takes 10 days to get home in similar fashion.

5 years later, both trailers are for sale for the same very reasonable asking price. Which one would you buy, A or B, and why ?

I don't believe there is much difference in the condition of the trailers. Quite honestly I'm a destination camper rather than a wanderer. The fact that the trailer sits at a destination for the number of days (specifically the example you give) provides negligible impact on the trailer itself.

I’d aim initially for the one better stored and maintained but ultimately less wear on items and didn’t smell of a sketchy past.

My 22 footer is just barely big enough for two adults and four small dogs the way we travel. It fits where we go.

Amen to that. By in-person inspection with white gloves, a fiber-optic camera, and a “prove it” attitude ready to walk away. Then I let DW handle the haggle if it goes that far. She will get the best price and terms every time.

Okay, I'll bite. Based on the information given and making no other assumptions about differences in treatment, there is no distinction of any substance. It's a tossup.

I'll have to get some of that Rum y'all must have had a good time to contemplate that one and then argue about it.
